Aspec Suspension installed today!

I had the ASPEC suspension installed today on my 05 5AT. I have not yet
had a chance to wring it out yet but the ride appears to be a bit firmer.
I am still using the stock tires and wheels.

My initial measurement of the drop was a tad less than 0.5 inch. Will
this increase as the springs settle?

The rear camber was -1.05 after the install.

The shop had installed the Comptech RSB a couple of weeks ago and shortly
there after certain bump/turns would result in a thump from the rear.

They found out that there had been some shift of the RSB and they
reinstalled the rascal ( no more strange thumps...).

Is the -1.05 still within spec?

Did they put in a rear camber kit?

Whoops I misread the alignment report, the left rear
camber was -1.2 and the right rear was -1.3.

The limit was -1.5

I might consider a camber kit in the future, but it appears
that the install left me "in spec".

Is it possible to "shim" the camber a bit?

Jerry,

The half inch drop seems pretty normal since that is what I got at first and after a few weeks another quarter inch dropped and seems to be holding. Your camber is fine.....don't over think it.

I'm concerned about the firmer ride. I have read other posts which say you can hardly notice. I want to reduce the gap, but the ride is rough enough when stock.

Update: Aspec suspension installed...

Well,

I took the TL with the new suspension for a trip down to the river
and back today.

The road is filled with blind left and right turns, sharply decreasing
radius turns, turns at the top of hills turns at the bottom of hills and
some whoop-de-do's

The TL was much more glued to the road and most of the
"floatyness" has been subdued ( I have a comptech RSB also).

The "in town" ride was a bit rougher than I would like but I feel
much safer with the prospect of having to make a high speed
maneuver now.

I had my A-Spec and Comptech swaybar installed last Sat... I took it for a ride (hit almost every corner hard) for the next 20 min and felt the difference... I had a colleague who had WDP and he said that this feels really different, yet not too rough...

However, I find that the stop and go dive still prominent... Not sure how to eliminate that...

Guys,

Did you notice an improvement in the steering feel after installing the A-spec suspension? Some have reported the the steering effort increased a little as did road feel. I think the TLs steering is a little over boosted. Thanks.

I'm going on about a month now with both susp & csw and it's DEFINITELY noticably stiffer. The ride is perfect with 4 people in the car though. Curves are really fun now The bouncyness on oneven roads reduced, but still present.

Contivity, the best case for testing the bouncyness is on the 55N to 91W transition road. Try it over 70 and you will see what I mean.

The steering feels about the same. I also notice the start and stop dive is still present but better.

Contivity and angler67,

Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping that the increased steering feel would really occur. But I would still get the upgrade anyway because of the improved handling.

Still undecided

I need some help, I have read a lot of posts that seem to contradict. I really want the A-Spec suspension for the looks (.5 drop) I have everything else in the A-Spec package. I do NOT want a rougher ride as I drive a ton, is it:

1. not much different
2. No different
3. Slightly rougher
4. Bone jarring

I'd like to do a survey, but don't know how. Maybe I should get bigger tires to reduce the gap.... Opinions?

Thanks

There was a poll not too long ago and most A-spec suspension owners said the ride was just a little rougher without being harsh with much improved handling. I would stay away from larger tire due to increased unsprung weight and decreased performance. I think the suspension upgrade is well worth it. I don't really like the slammed look too much and hate the fact that I have to be so much more careful entering and exiting driveways. But that's my opinion.

angler67: I hardly take that route, but I'd keep that in mind. However, I always try to push the limit (currently between 65-70) on the 57N -> 60W ramp since I always pass that intersection on the way home from work.

I'd say 3. It is rougher, but cornering is a dream. It could be bone jarring depending on the smoothness of the roads you travel. In So Cal we have both concrete and asphalt freeway. Older roads ddevelop unevenness, but newer roads are smooth as silk.

Also, the more people in the car the smoother it is as well.

Yesterday my friend was driving my car back from Morongo.. I was so sleepy that I can't concentrate and he asked me if he can push the car... I give the go ahead and he took the winding roads on the 60/215 fwy where the mountains at 85-95... It was around 4am and there was almost no traffic... I couldn't really feel that he was going that fast... in his accord, I'd feel it way earlier...

In short, A-Spec suspension is a really good investment if you like to take corners... It's not that much rougher... only a little bit... I can feel the rougher portion of 10 fwy (westbound after Peck) but my daily drive on 57 is not bad at all..
