Anyone running 225/45/17's?

3 nails, one sidewall tear and almost 20,000 miles later, it's time to replace the stock Michelins.

Anyone running 225/45/17's? Got pics?

I'm thinking of some Dunlop SP Sport FM901's... any comments on those would be appreciated as well. (I'm also open to other suggestions -- if discounttiredirect.com carries them that'd be a big plus!)

Got Dunlop SP9000 225/45/17. The overall diameter is a little smaller than stock. I think 1/2 inch. If you haven't lowered your car yet you will want to afterwards. 1/2 inch doesn't sound like much but the wheel gap was ugly after that.

Pics. They're CLS rims.

225 will not fit on your stock 6.5" wide Type S rims.

A minimum wheel width of 7" is recommended for 225/45-17.

'99 stock wheels are 16". Indeed 225/55-16 will fit on a 6.5" wheel. However, 225/45-17 will not fit on a 17 x 6.5" wheel.

It has everything to do with the height of the sidewall and the amount of "bulge" each will provide when mounted on specific wheel widths. Check tire manufacturers specs when in question.
