Anyone powerwash their rims to clean ?

Just wondering. I never have, wondering if it would hurt them in some way.

i just got my 08 tl and washed it once with a power washer. Basically the closer you get to the rim with the power washer the more pressure there is.. Just keep the nozzle of the power washer gun like 5 inches away.. just to be safe. if the dirt is really stuck on there you might need to scrub it yourself.

I assumed most people with a pressure washer would wash wheels with it. The vast majority of them are not exactly very powerful. You would most likely have to have the strongest, often called 0º, nozzle and an extremely powerful pressure washer touching the wheel to be concerned about damaging the finish.

Of course, if you have a bad chip, scratch, or the finish is peeling, you can damage it with a pressure washer. Otherwise the finish is really durable. I've always washed wheels with a pressure washer and a 15º nozzle.

I would consider using the power washer during a tire rotate where you can get access to the back side of the wheel where the majority of dirt would be. My wheels remain pretty clean on the outside, so I'm not so interested in using a power washer when I wash the car.

I wouldn't be so worried about pealing the paint but you could blow off some wheel weights if you're not too careful.

I've never used one...but it seems like overkill to me. Are your wheels really in such bad shape that car wash and/oor wheel cleaner and a wheel brush can't clean them?

I do it-no worries. It seems to clean the Brembo dust well.

Depending on how long it has been since the wheel has been cleaned (caked on brake dust, dirt, etc.), you may want to look into something like Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner. A product like that will break down most of the contaminants on the face and the inner barrel of the wheel and will easily be rinsed off leaving a perfectly clean wheel.
