Another Staggered Set up on 05 TL

After spending a good part of the day at Wheel Warehouse in Anahiem, CA, I came home with this set up.

The crew at Wheel Warehouse was great, they put a set up of Axis Mod 7 on my car, and when they put it on the ground, I didn't like it, the rear set up was right for the TL, looked way to small. They were 19x8 with a 35 offset, all the way around.

They then spent a good hour talking about other options, and we came to the Axis SuperMesh II. I really like the staggered set up, I understand it doesn't make sence on the TL, but hell this isn't a race car.

They put 19x8.5 up front on 235/35/19 Toyo T1S and 19x9.5 on the rear with 275/30/19 Toyo T1S.

The car sits at the stock height, and there are no problems with rubbing.

I am having problems loading pictures from tonight, so I will get them up later.

The ride hasn't changed much, and overall I am happy.

I am still thinking I should have gone with the Milano wheels, so I have put these wheels up for sale on the black market, and have ordered a set of Milano in the same size.

Your Porsche is awesome. I really like it. I love 911s...always were my favorite. Did you restore the 911 yourself or is it a survivor? Either way....nice.

Hey Mike, looking good, I like 'em.

I'm also in the loop with Wheel Warehouse for a set of Volk bronze meshes to go on my '05 RRP. Didn't like the chrome look, stands out too much on my car, in my opinion.

The sales guy (jason) was talking about the staggered look, didn't think it would appeal to me, but looking at yours... hmmm. Also still undecided if I should go 18" or 19". You say not much change in the ride?

Can't believe you're selling those to go to the Axis...

Yup, I was there Sat., the old bearded guy with a black Davis Motorsports cap...

They were kinda busy and I was trying to make a decision (or at least work towards one). Usually it's not too tough for me to come up with a plan (took no time at all to decide that I'd look good in a new TL), but the wheels are turning into a tuff decision. Too many choices...

Looking at your ride, it's becoming easier.

Jim,

My car was down in the shop, walked down and saw your car with the wheels next to it, didn't see anyone around.

Why ruin such a fine car with the WRONG setup? No its not a race, car no it doesn't make SENSE, why???

If you get a FWD car, there is nothing wrong with doing it RIGHT, the same size all around. What is the infactuation with this?????

That fool in the G35 or 330 or IS sedan is gonna laugh his ass off when u pull up next to them.

What's the widest you could go on our cars without messing up the camber/getting very uneven tire wear? i thought we couldn't go higher than 8.5 without spacers and didn't the A-Spec( 8.5) have problem with uneven wear with it's mild drop? I like the way your car looks but I just don't wanna rob my car of too much of its performance and handling.

Can you tell me or post the exact wheel and tire combination. Brand, size, offset and tire size.

Just purchased 19x8.5s and 19x9.5s with a 38mm offset all around. Does anyone know if this will be okay??? Also looking for tire recommendation for this staggered set up to prevent possible rubbing issues. Thoughts??? Thanks!

I think they look Hot!!!! The staggered look is impressive Plus it give you your own style. I did it on my A-spec back in 2004 and they still look hot as hell. Not sure how you got that big ass tire on in the back thought I went with 245/35/19 all around. Enjoy you new wheels.

Guys I will try to post a few new ones with a real camera Later this week. I just bought a set of the new Toyo TR-1 Tires and after they put them on I will post some pics.

I have the full A-spec and there is no rubbing at all. Wheels are going on there third season now and still look as new as the day I bought them. They are R1 Racing Hex-1 3 Piece Wheels.

Only Issues with the stagered setup is you cant rotate properly and your front tires burn out before the rears.

I like the look its unique and thats all that matters to each his own.

Hek,

You can rotate but You would have to mount and rebalance the tires every 5K miles. I just burn through the fronts and get a new set, Usually HPT will make it through the whole summer season as long as I dont drive a crazy amount of miles.
