Aftermarket Wheels & TPMS - Cost / Mounting
#1
![Question](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I've searched high and low but can't find a solid answer on how much another set of TPMS sensor would cost and on what aftermarket wheels people are having success with. I apologize if I've missed something.
I have an 06 5AT TL that I would like to get some aftermarket 18"x8.5 wheels for. I'm currently thinking about either the ASA JH8 or the Kazera KZ-A. Has anyone had experience getting the TPMS sensors installed onto either of these wheels? Is this something that a place like Discount Tire would do if I had the sensors already? How much did the installer charge? How much were the sensors from Acura?
Thanks!
Doki

Allow me to retort:

I've seen posts of people reporting shops charging them an extra $15-$20 per wheel to install the sensors (this doesn't include the cost of the sensors if you're buying new ones). The costs to deal with the sensors if really a drop in the bucket as far as cost goes, so does it really matter. I haven't read a post where people have mentioned the cost of the sensors. That I don't know about. Mine came with my A-Spec wheels when I ordered them so I couldn't help you with that.

i have aftermarket wheels and did not put the sensors in, about 15 minutes into driving my tpms sensor goes off, no harm to me or the car just a small light, get over it and save your money

when i get rims, i'll buy another set of TPMS sensors.

I stopped by my dealer today and picked up a new set of sensors. They cost me $45 each which is a bit more than I hoped but less than I feared.
The valves on them swivel a little bit which should help with mounting on various wheels.

welll when you only drive the car 2 a week and only drive for about 15 miles per day the light comes on 1 once a week, and i ordered my wheels and tires through tire rack and they came mounted and balanced and i did not want to spend 210+ for the new snsors plus another 100 for remounting so i saved my 310+tax, to each his own

I think most people here would not put up with a "TPMS" light in their dash. If it doesn't bother you, then like you said you saved $300.

does anyone know ...
how to install these? i don't see why a tire place woudl charge extra just to put that thing on. YOu just screw it on in place of the original aftermarket valve stems right? well it doesn't come with an adhesive or anything so I just it just kinda "kicks it" there. I asked this already but does anything else need to be done to the sensor? how do i activaite it? hahaha.. or does it just do it on its own?

One on the right for me
