Added 18" G37 Wheels

Hey guys, first thread here on Acurazine! I recently just put some 18" G37 wheels on my TL. I have the 6MT so I did lots of research trying to find wheels that fit. The wheels are 18x8 with +43 offset I believe. Even though these specs are close to stock, they DO NOT FIT BREMBOS WITHOUT MODIFICATION. I added 20mm Ichiba V2 spacers, although I think 15mm would clear them just fine. They ended up fitting pretty flat with the fenders, with the front sticking out just a couple of centimeters. I was thinking of painting them either gunmetal or black and modding the center caps to be just blank. What do you guys think would look good? Also, would a 1-1.5" drop be fine with these specs?

I meant the front sticks out a few milimeters, not centimeters. I'm a new member, so I can't edit my post.

Did you add the 20mm spacers in the rear as well?

Not yet, but I ordered another pair. I admit it's going to look silly for about a week.

Gotcha. Depending on how low you go, you'll most likely need to roll the rear fenders. What size tires do you have?

Haha, I'd like to keep it functional for daily driving. I have 225/40r18 right now. The ones on the wheels right now have camber wear from the previous owner so I might get a set of Sumitomo HTR Ziii's in a few months. Also I'm thinking of either dipping/painting these wheels either gunmetal or black. Opinions?

Leave them silver; a light color looks great with a dark colored car. If you really want to paint them, don't do black

Man, I think I would have gotten the smallest spacer that would have made them clear the brembos. I think a 7mm spacer would have worked and then move the 20mm to the rear. you can use washers to judge what size spacer you need, each washer is 1mm

Are you saying that out of safety or looks? I still haven't put on the rear spacers yet, so you're saying that I should get 15mm in the front, put the 20mm in the back and run a staggered look? Would it be dumb on a FWD car? Before getting the Ichibas, I had 8mm spacers and they were slightly rubbing the brakes a bit, so I wanted some more space. It isn't the offset that's the problem, it's the concave design of the wheel that makes it rub the brakes.

I was saying for looks. I really like the wheels and I like them on your car, but I think the fronts stick out too far and look kind of goofy. Maybe try a 10mm spacer to see if they will clear. I just think 20mm is way too much and will take away from the looks of the wheels.

Also lots of TL'ers run staggered setups on their cars and it looks great to an extent.

Yeah, I gotcha. I actually cancelled my order for the 20mm since it hasn't shipped yet. I think I'm going to run 15mm Ichiba V2 in the front just because other threads on AZine say that they're the best spacers to get for our cars. Plus, these 20mm just barely stick out of the fenders (maybe 2-3mm), so the 15s should look fine. Opinions on wheel color? I'm still conflicted between this OEM color or gunmetal...

Did the 04-06s have different suspension? Why is there so much fender gap? Looks like my car after it has been lifted lol

I like the wheels though, and I'm glad you have future plans to lower it

The wheels look good but it looks like a monster truck with those tires. You ether need to lower it or get smaller profile tires (or both). I had 350z wheels on my 06 and loved the look.

The 6MTs are lighter in the front than the AT, so that may be it.

What size do you recommend? I'm getting new tires soon so I'm open to suggestions. The ones I have now are 225/40r18, which are about 0.1 inch larger in diameter than the stock ones.

Also, did you run center caps with the 350Z wheels?

Those are the perfect size; don't change them.

Here's an update...

So I put the 20mm Ichibas in the back and added 15mm Ichibas in the front and got 245/40r18 Kumho Ecsta XS tires. I'm currently having rubbing issues with the rear passenger side tire, so I'm going to get the fenders rolled soon.

I'm still thinking about painting these a darker color so I'd like some feedback/opinions/suggestions for my setup.

Yeah, that's a color that I'm really considering for them! Something like this...

Anyone know of good DIY threads and materials for painting wheels?

I bought these wheels from that member and they have held up well. I love the color on them and would highly recommend you try that color and see how they look on the car.

Wow, that looks great. I think that's what I'm going to do in a couple of weeks when I have free time! How long have they been painted and do you have recent pics of them? Also, the outer layer is paint, so I'm guessing you wash and take care of them just like any regular wheel, right?

I think an A-Spec Kit and slight drop will make those wheels look 10x better.
