7.5 vs 8.0 width rim and tire on '06 TL
my 06 acura tl came from the dealership with after market 19inch zenettis. one broke so now i pretty much need to get 4 new rims. but i need some help.
i have narrowed it down to 2 rims, 08W18-SEC-200B (dark chrome a-spec 18x7.5) and 08W18-SEP-202F (dark chrome 18x8.0).
as far as i can tell the 200b was originally made for the tsx, but fits the TL. and the 202f seems to be made for the 06-08 TL.
my main questions:
1) are there any disadvantages to going with the 7.5 inch width (since its cheaper) vs getting the 8.0 inch wide rim
2) what is the best tire size for each ( i like having a bit of a bulge so the tire sticks out a bit beyond the rim to protect it when parallel parking)
i am in a bit of a hurry to get my car fixed so all help is really appreciated, i want to be able to order the right rims and get them on ASAP.
thank you,
carlos
p.s. i do have tpms, but i have been told that the tpms will work on pretty much any rim.

^^what they said. i believe the 7.5 inch width is for the TSX.
18x8 is OEM spec for the TL with 235/40/18 tire size. you can go 245/40/18 to give you your extra rim protection...there are threads on this for aftermarket tire sizing.

I wouldnt go less than 8" width personally. In fact I use to run 18x9.5s on my old Maxima and they grip was awesome

Like others have said, I wouldn't want to go narrower than 8.0".
As a recap: stock OEM rim is 17 x 8 and tire size is 235/45 R17.
I use the link below to compare tire sizes and what they will do to your speedo, etc...

Also there are many threads on AZ about different sizes which will with and why you should use / try them. Based on one of the threads I found -
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...uot%3B255%2F40
I ran 255/40 R17 on my stock rims and was very happy.
Here are some other threads for your reading pleasure.
