42 offset enough?

i wanna get lexani 18x8 rims that have a +42 offset but i dont know if that is enough. i dont plan on lowering my car but probably getting a body kit. Which tire would you recomend as well, 225/40, 235/40, or 215/35. if 42 isnt enough, should i just go with the 17x7.5. thanks for all your help!

NO!

No, it wouldn't be enough unless you really want to mod your fenders I had 18x7.5 w/ +42 off-set on my old 94 Legend cpe and it rubbed I had to go w/ a metal file and go at it! and I don't think the TL is any different. Even if you don't lower it when you turn, major rubbing will happen! if your going for anything x8 you need 50+ or 52+ off-set like w/ racing harts or some of the very expensive rims that make an off-set like that. As for tire size, the most you could go is 235/35 and I think even w/ that your still in for some filing? I just got my tl-s a week ago so I don't know yet but for other pplz posts that's what it sounds like.

BFOR3 is right. Maybe you might wanna look into a 7.5" diameter wheel. That way there is more offsets that generally fit our cars.

warning!!! dont get a 18x8 with a offset less then 50. If you do im sure you will rub, then imagine when you have people in the car. I would go with a 18x7.5, thats the perfect width. on a 7.5 in width go with 235 to make the tires flush with the rim, if you do go with an 8 inch rim better get a high offset. gl

I have 18 X 7.5 with +42 offset with no rubbing. If you get 8" in width, you might have problems.

I bought the springs(Eibach Pro-Kit) / Rims / Tires(Toyo Proxes) with free installation for $3500.00

I belive the rims alone came out to about $2700.00 and I got them through BLITZ in Miami, Florida...

Definetly get the 225/40/18. I have 18X8 (+42 offset) zenetti saphires with 225/40/18 toyo proxies and I lowered my car and it still did not rub.
