2nd gen typeS rims on 3rd gen

Anyone know if the 2nd gen type S rims will fit on our 3rd gen? I dont see why not. The bolt pattern is the same and the only diff is the width. Type S is I believe 6.5 and 3rd gen is 8. I always loved the look of those rims and dont really like the stock 3rd gen rims too much and haven't really found a decent pair of aftermarket rims.

vetalik - thanks for the heads up, the CL rims are wider by 1/2 inch.

I picked up a aset off of ebay and they should be here by next week. Now I need to pick up some tires. Im looking at the Falken 452's but dont know what size to go with. The stock recommendation for the wheel is 215/50/17. I was thinking of going with 205/35/17. I want the wheel to 1) Look bigger, so a more stretched tire might give it that effect 2) Dont want the entire wheel well filled with a fat tire, therfore going with the slimmer sidewall. I dont know if this will really effect the ride quality? Any suggestions?

The 2nd gen TL-S or CL-S rims will look "sunk" inside 3rd gen TL wheel wells due to their higher offset and less width. If you look at your stock wheels now, imagine the new wheels to sit about 1"-1.25" deeper in the wheel wells. IMO they will look ugly and make the car look "weak" because the wheels are so deep inside the wheel wells.

I also don't think 205/35 R17 is a good idea for the car, if this size exists, because Tirerack doesn't have this size. This tire size has much lower overall diameter compared to your stock ones and it will cause:
1. your car seem lifted, due to the much bigger fender gap.
2. your odometer and speedometer inaccuracy by a significant amount.

My suggestion is test fit the rims first before buying tires. If you like what you see, then feel free and buy the tires. I wouldn't get any tires smaller than 215/50 R17, because of the points above.

Just my $0.02.

260 HP - Your right, they dont make that tire, I checked. 215 is the smallest made I was also thinking about the offset, but wasn't too sure how it would look. I do intend to drop the car significantly to reduce the fender gap. I bought the wheels and im going to try them on, if they dont look good i'll just resell them. No biggy. Heres a stock pic and then pic with the Type S rims just to get a visual.

And yes that is datmrman's Acura. Sorry for jackin yo ride, but it was a sweet pic and perfect to PS.

1"-1.25" inch "sink" doesnt seem too bad, guess I will have to wait and see.. Any comments on the overall look besides the offset.
