265 tire with 8.5" wheel?

So i am planning on putting 265/30/19 tires on a 19x8.5 wheel. I did some research and some(bmw and Evolution guys) say its fine and no problem while others suggest not to because it will bulge.

So i just wanted to know whats the opinion of folks here on AZ.

I guess im planning on doing the exact opposite of what the hellaflush people do

I know the 265 will fit but I dunno about the ratio what you should run on that.

19x8.5 +35 with 265/30/19. Also planning to slam hoping that the weak offset and width will reduce the chance of the 265's rubbing

That's perfectly fine. The Acura bunch over here will suggest stretching a tire which is dangerous but not a 255 on an 8" rim which is far from dangerous and was a common ratio in the past.

265mm and 8.5" is more than fine. I'm running a 255mm on the stock 8" rims. You added roughly .4" of tire width and your rims are .5" wider than mine.

Here are my 255/40/17 on stock rims. A 265 on an 8.5" rim will have even less "bulge" if you can really call it that.

Should be ok if you don't mess with the rear camber .. if you look at my car pix you will see I'm not slammed .. just dropped an inch and with then camber set closer to zero I don't have a lot of clearance and I'm on 235 - 35 - 19

Can you do it, yes, should you do it, no:
265/30-19 has a recommended wheel width of 9"-10".
Your choice. That setup will move the wheel 5/8" out farther towards the body, and the section width of that tire is 10.7", and slamming the body down..........

Are those NT05's?

I'm trying to decide which summer tire to buy in the next month, those look pretty beefy.

They're the NT05s. Amazing tires. I've tried many summer max performance tires but nothing has come close to these things. The handling is absolutely amazing. These things are running just about as fast as the full R compounds at the track. Many are within a second of what the full race tires run. However, the treadwear is only 200 or maybe it's 100, I can't remember. But you will be spoiled once you try these things and it will be hard to go back to a normal tire.

Try a google search and you won't find a single bad review.

sounds like they'll rub.... I have 245 on 8.5.... they look fine... but it sounds like the wheels will bulge out.... I think if you hit a pot hole fast enough, you'll probably damage the tire....

There is a local here who put 265 on his 18x8.5 A specs. It really does not bulge out that much surprisingly. Thats all around too.
