255/35/19 - Will they rub with drop?
Getting some RonJon Inspyre 19" wheels. Trying to keep some ride comfort, but doesn't have to be as nice as factory.
The 235/35/19 is the recommended tire for this wheel. But I don't know if I like the look when the tire is that thin, I'm afraid of potholes with it that thin, and I don't yet have a drop.
I am looking at either Eiback or Tein drop just to close the gap between fender and tire.
Will I have rubbing after a drop using the 255/35/19? Or, should I stick with 245/35/19? Anyone running these size tires?

Dropping with 245's won't be an issue unless you decide to slam it. If you slam it then you'll cut up the side of the rubbers in the front... I had the problem so I had to raise it a little. Now my drop is so that basically the fenders just come to the top of the tire treads. Also keep in mind, the wider you go with tires, the rim will appear smaller due to the rubber overhang but the plus side is it gives you more protection.
Next set of tires I'm doing 235's maybe even 225's.

What size wheels? What offsets? I had 255/35s on 19x9.5 and they rubbed but its because my offset was +24. With a more conservative offset I doubt you will rub. But if you are running these on a 8.5 wide rim I would say just get a smaller tire like a 235/35 so as to keep your overall diameter as close to factory as possible to keep your speedo accurate.

The wheels are RonJon Satin Silver Machined Inspyres 19 x 8.5 with +42 offset. Same as Elegant Type S except color. Sounds like I'll start with 245 and a small drop. How big is the drop right now? Sounds like what I want.
I looked at 235, but the sidewalls are just so small. Feel like I would dent my wheels for sure.

Anyone have a link to that thread where they talked about the actual changes that happen with speedo when changing diameter? Like in this case, I should be running 235/35/19, but I am going to go 245/35/19. This will change my speedo, but I believe the amount is extremely small if I remember correctly. Anyone remember that thread or want to calculate it for me?

With that offse you could run 255/35s and not rub, however I wouldn't cause it will look funny. I would run 235/35s but if you want a little extra protection 245/35s will be fine.
Here is a good calculator:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
Enter your stock size and enter your new size and it tells you exactly how much you will be off by.

abp_04tl, I already don't like how thin the sidewall looks with the 35 aspect, so 30 will look even thinner. And probably guarantee a dented, or more likely, cracked wheel in my pothole city.
AnthraciteAspec, thanks for the calculator. Looks like my speedo will show 1MPH less than I am actually travelling. And I think it is rounding because I believe the real numbers end up being only a fraction of 1MPH. I can live with this for the larger sidewall and increased protection, although I have never in my life rashed a wheel so the protection isn't as important for rashing. Denting, cracking, and general ride quality matter though. Was just concerned about rubbing after I drop the car a little to get rid of the gap between the fender and the top of the tire.
