255/35-19 Tire Size
Has anyone tried this tire size? The sidewall height is the same as a 225/40 which is as low as I would want to go to protect the wheel. Bay Area freeways are .

The FIRST issue is the width of the rim. 255's on an 8.0-inch rim are fine as long as the sidewall is large enough (see 255/40-17 thread in here). However, as you reduce that sidewall, you run a risk. If your going to move to a 35-series sidewall, your going to BE FORCED to also go to a 8.5-inch wide rim. The secodn issue is total tire height. Others on here have shown that 245/45-17's work "just fine" and they are slightly oversized in diameter (80.67-inches) so extending these to the 19-inch sizing outlined on charts, you can see that the overall height of a 245/35-19 "should" fit since the circumference ON THIS PARTICULAR tire is 80.89-inches but the established standard is the 30-series on the 19's. In contrast the 255/35-19's are nearly a full inch larger than these "acceptable" larger tires. The 255/35-19's are 81.74-inches. Here's the tire comparison tool I used for this analysis. Hope this helps. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit

Oops, there it is...
Someone please delete that post. The whole time I was writting it, my wife was trying to get me out the door to do some christmas shopping. I didn't realize until I came back on here tonight that the subject matter are NINETEEN's, not DUB's. Just been replying to so many DUBs posts, I transposed the final number.... 255/35-19's are NO problem other than the odo mis-match. It's the 255/35-20's that some people are having issues with... Do'Ah.. Just wnet brain dead there for a few...just proves it can happen to anyone.

255/30/19 would be the closest to stock. I just ran 245/35/19 and they weren't bad, but I will be needing new tires before next summer an I am getting a 255/30 when the time comes.
