245/40-18 Tires on A-spec??

Hellooooo Everyone,

So I am in the market for new tires, and am thinking about going to 245/40-18.

Question is:will the 245/40-18 tires fit OK on the 18x8 A-spec wheels on an A-spec suspension (A/T) without rubbing?

Any negatives with this setup?? Thanks in advance...

On an 8 inch I would go with 235-40-18.

i went 245-40-18 on my 18x8 aspecs. The tire provides some extra rim protection. Looks perfectly fine. 235-40-18 would just be flush with the edge of the rim, whereas 245-40-18 slightly goes over the edge of the rim. So it's just up to you whether you want a more flush look or not.

Is that for a-spec wheels 18x8" ? are you sure you are not mistaken with the a-spec wheels 18x8.5" ?

I need tires for my a-spec wheels 18x8" and I can't decide...

225/40/18, 235/40/18 or 245/40/18 ?

Whats the dealer recommendation for 18x8" wheels on an Acura TL 06 AT base?

Thanks!

The OEM specs were 235/40/18. I am currently debating my tire size right now... I am not trying to hijack your thread...but check out my thread over here talking about the same thing... https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/tire-assistance-spec-18-x-8-5s-810115/#post12778158

Your thread is about tires on 18x8.5" wheels right?

I need recommendations for the 18x8" wheels..

FYI - the A-Spec's were marked as "18X8.5" in 2004. In subsequent years, they were marked as "18X8". According to someone on this board (sorry, I don't have reference, it's been a while), an actual comparison of the two wheels determined that they weren't actually any different than one another. The extra .5 inch on the 2004 version was, allegedly, illusory.

Both 225 and 245 widths will fit on an 8" wheel. 235 is the proper section width and will provide the best handling.

thanks ttribe and Marco! Thats what I needed to know I will go 235/40/18..

This will result in a speedometer Difference of 0.317% too slow

Is that right?

One last question, do I need any spacers or they will perfectly fits?
The wheels: Hyper silver a-spec wheels 18x8" 45mm offset
The car: Acura TL 06 AT base

No as that the OEM spec tire size for the aspec wheels!! the reason why me and a lot of members in here go with the 245/40/18 is because of more wheel protection and they still look good on our cars when mounted. If you live in a Pot Hole free city then keep the 235 40 18 size.

That may be true, but I''m not sure. I have a 2004 Aspec 8.5 wheels and have run 255 on them no problem. I'm pretty sure the 2004 are 8.5 and it was reduced to 8 in later years. The 8.5 and 8 are different part numbers. Further, I run 245 on the stock rims and that is not an issue. Further, I will never go back to 235.

I changed my ASPEC set up from 235/40/18X8.5 to 245/40/18x8.5 and have had no problem since 19K miles. Thats all I have run since losing the original tires. No complaints.

I bought mine from ACT05TL (vendor on the forums) and he was selling them for $800 plus shipping. Way better price than the buying them from the stealerships.

Does anyone have pictures of 225/40r18 on A-Spec wheels? I wanted to see what the "stretch" look really looks like. I have a set of used A-Spec wheels and my brother gave me a set of tires he had in his garage (225/40r18). Should I install these tires or shell out moola to get either the 235 or 245? Thanks for any input.

use up whatever life u have with the 225s ... then when their life is over, invest in a new set of tires (thats what i would do) esp if it was all free

The 225/40r18's are brand new. My brother bought them for his IS250 but his car was totaled. Would it be too big of a gap since my TL is not lowered?

IMO, yes and yes. Put them up for sale and install 245/40-18 tires of your choice.

Sold the 225/40r18. What do you guys think of the Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105 245/40zr18 on the A-Spec wheels? It is $155 per tire shipped from Discount Tire Direct. I don't drive too aggressively.

I'm running 245-40 18x8.5s Michelin Pilot Sport All Seasons on my 2004 Aspec and the rear left tire rubs when I hit a bump. These are the gun metal finish rims.

Go with the 245 size. It's perfect in my opinion. The OEM tire size is a 235, but the OEM tire that Acura put on the wheel was a little larger than most 235's. So the 245's work great. You get a little wider look with a little more rim protection. In my opinion, it's the perfect tire size for an OEM setup.

PLEASE, please, please, DON'T get a 225 tire. I never understood the stretched tire look when going for an aggressive wheel combination, much less for an OEM setup.

The 245/40R18 will make you happy!

I recommended you the 235/40/18, you made the right choice. Now I recommend you a 10, or at least, a 5 mm spacer with a 45 offset. Do this, try and get someone to lend you two 5 or 10 mm spacers, try them on one side and leave the other side without spacers...I believe you will go with the spacers! Let me know once you've done the sampling!!

O, and with the 235 you will have more than enough protection for your 8" inch wheel. The 245 is better recommended for the 8.5" inch. I had the 8'5 and I ran them with the 245.

I have 245/45/17's on OEM wheels and I love the ride
Might switch back when i get different tires only because more people have 235's and i can get it for cheaper here on AZ
For your wheel, the 245 would be the better choice on the 8.5

A 245 series tire is recommended for anything width from 8" to 9.5". So he'd be fine if he decided to go with a 245. It might be better recommended for 8.5, but 8 is fine too. But there's no comparison between the protection. IMO the 235 doesn't really cut it while the 245 does much, much better. It's not like either is a bad choice though.

EDIT- The 245 gets my vote, but I will say that you will probably see slightly better mileage if you go with a 235.
