Why do you want to run such a tall sidewall?

Yeah stock is 235/45/17. I'd just stick with stock size.

Why does it matter if the width of the tire is 20mm smaller? I fail to see how that makes the tire the same size as a 235/45-17.

Because overall diameter is the same.

that's what matters the MOST when picking a tire...although, I would never go that skinny/narrow of a tire...

if you can't picture it, use a tire calculator to help you understand.

https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire...ismetric=False

overall diameter between the stock tires and the 215/50/17 is pretty close...25.33" for the stock and 25.46" for the narrower tire.
as long as the overall diameter is within 3% variance, the tire will be okay to use. the 215/50 has a variance of .54%....basically spot on
