2007 TL-S, can't find cheap steel rims...
I've been poring over the threads, have seen a ton of people with snow tire reviews and "does this fit my year/model", but can't seem to find a place to buy some black, plain, steel rims to slap winter tires on. I don't want to swap summer/winter tires every year, so I'm planning on getting crap rims/good winter tires for easy swapping (on stock 18 rims with Yoke summers now). Also, I'm wondering if you guys have specific recommendations on fitment - I'd rather go smaller diameter/skinnier for the winter, but am worried about the brembos. I know, I know, that's pretty much covered in the "what tires fit..." sticky, but I figured I'd lump it in to see if anyone knows of a one-stop shop and known-good specs outside of the stock 18's. Thanks in advance all!

After a bit of digging, it appears the nasty (I'll paint them black) CRV 17" steelies might fit (5x114.3). Can anyone confirm? It was brought up in a previous thread, but couldn't find any confirmation. They're a bit skinny at 6.5", but I'm hoping that'll work pretty well for winter (and save a few $$$).

OP...unless you have A-Spec wheels, which aren't standard on the TL-S, you have 17" OEM wheels. If it were me, I wouldn't run CRV wheels on my TL, offsets may not work and/or clear the Brembo calipers.
Why go with skinnier wheels/tires for the Winter? Not necessary....go with OEM size 235/45/17 Winter tires on 17 X 8 wheels. You can usually find a set of Base TL wheels for cheap that should fit on the TL-S...and they'll look a lot better too.
I hate black steelies on a nice car....looks like sh!t.

Here's what I'm contemplating getting. I know I could get some steelies (i'm having issues finding them around Chicago, though), or craigslist rims, but for an extra $100 or so the MSW's with the red stripe would look pretty sweet on my black TL-S. Diggin the Conti's per the reviews on the site and tirerack, just a tad more than the Blizzak MS70's. Here's the $USD breakdown:
17x8 MSW Type 16 Black w/Red Stripe x4 4 x 125 $500
235/45R17 Continental ExtremeWinterContact 4 x 143 $572
315MHz Tire Pressure Sensor 4 x 28 $112
mount / balance free
$1184 + tax
Not super cheap, but beats spending $75-100 twice a season to swap tires off of rims when I can do it myself. I'm hoping these last me more than a few years to make it worthwhile.

So steelies can work on the TL-S??
I need to get some tires and wheels asap since snow struck and I'm running crappy all-seasons that have no traction. I could care less if I have ugly wheels for the winter. I rather spend the money saved on something else.

I wasn't able to find steel wheels that could clear the brembos. I'm sure they exist, but I wasn't able to come up with any. Everywhere I looked had ones that could clear the TL, but not the TLS Brembos. I ended up with some cheapo MSW rims for the winter tires.

I put Blizzaks on the stock aluminum wheels. I was looking at a set of Accord wheels, but the tire guys said 16" wheels won't fit over the brakes. Others had tried and failed. I figured I'd get a set of remanufactured TL wheels in a month or so to put in the summer tires and leave the originals on the snows. They were pre-injured by the previous owner, anyway, and stock wheels were about the same price as the cheaper aftermarket wheels.

Ryan's loving his ATLP TL
Will the TPMS work with those? If so. I'm assuming so. You'll have to buy them separately, which ones should I buy if I am going to install the TPMS on 04-06 TL rims. In the future I plan to install those rims on my 07 TL-S for winter tires. Does the TPMS need to be calibrated? Or once installed do they just work?
