2006 TL 6MT winter wheel options

I'm curious to find out what the 6MT guys are using for winter wheels. I planned on buying 17" ASA JH3 wheels from Tire Rack with tires and pressure monitors but all of the sudden they don't list them as available for the 6MT any more. I'm wondering if someone reported fitment issues??? I sent an email to Tire Rack asking what's up.

Anyone have a source for cheap stock wheels. I could always get a set and then order just the tires from Tire Rack and then have them installed. PITA compared to ordering everything from Tire Rack to begin with.

Call tirerack and ask for Jim @ ext 364. He is great to deal with and I have known him for quite a while.

Assuming you do not have A-Spec, just put snows on the stock whees, and get a decent set of rims/tires for summer.

If you do have a-spec, check e-bay for some stockers w/out tires and get some new tires from tirerack.

The ASA's are the ones I would have suggested but the reason they dont have them listed is they may not be compatible with the TPMS. That's the only thing I can think of because all of their ASA wheels seem to be on closeout, so the brand may be discontinued and they are out of stock on the JH3's

OK, SideNote:

The JH3 with Blizzaks is available for the 06 STi which has a 5*114.3 bolt pattern, and brembo brakes, so I would assume they would fit the TL as well. Call Jim and double check with him on the offsets and if they fit, that's wheels with tires for under $1K.

Seems like a steal to me!

Nice! Thanks, I was searching like crazy for that guy's name. I knew someone mentioned his name before but couldn't find it.

I think that setup is pretty sweet for the price.

the Sti wheels will fit cause i sold a set of OEM 04 TL wheels for my brother's friend that has a 05 Sti. (the Sti brembo's are 323mm and the TL brembo's are 310mm). offset, bolt pattern and hub size are very near the same.

Guys -

Thanks for the help so far. Jim from TireRack got back to me and the reason they don't list the ASA JH3's anymore is because they are not in stock. Not due in until mid-January! That's in 17x8.

Now, assuming you guys are right about the STi wheels working, if you plug in the Subura, TireRack's configurator brings up the ASA JH3's in 17x7.5 and recommends 225-45's. These should work, no? I sent a message back to Jim asking him to confirm and also to see if the pressure sensors work with those wheels.

no. If you go 225 I think it needs to be 225/50/17 because the OEM's are 235/45/17 so you need to keep the same overall diameter.

Jim will let you know for sure though. He is a great guy to work with!

Hmmm...Jim at TR says the following...
The center bore is only 56mm for the WRX. They would not even go on the Acura.

I double checked and found that the TL center bore is 64mm. Not going to work.

ahh....damn.

My only other suggestion would be to look for some stockers or no-names such as ubnpast has or hold out till January if you can for the ASA's.

I know there is someone in the for sale section that has some stock wheels for sale, otherwise there's always ebay.
