Hey guys I need your help. I am pretty automotive illiterate and reading these posts are confusing the heck out of me. I have 2005 TL and I am looking to get some sweet rims either 19's or 20's. I like the M6 rims that I saw on Modbargains and saw some other dude with Euro Klasse rims which I can't find on the internet. Does anyone know what size I need to get or have any thoughts on my idea? I don't understand offset, etc. Sorry for such a bogus post, but any help would be great.

Thanks,

I was in the same predicament but i choose 20" with +40 offset. If I where you look around at the rims a few of us have on Acurazine and if you like the stance of a car PM that person. Im sure they will tell you their rims specs

Go with 19's....they're the perfect size. Plus, you get a better ride with the 19's.

Is the ride quality that much different from 19's to 20's? Also how are people getting the inside of their headlights black and where can I get that CLS looking trunk? Can I just give someone money and hook up my car? I literally don't know anything.

LMAO... My wheels ride pretty nice with and without the Coilovers. I haven't tried 19s but im pretty sure they would right better since they are smaller and lighter. If you know nothing about hooking up cars you should go 19s. I currently have problems with rubbing. I should be getting my fenders rolled as soon as i find someone in my area to do it. Headlights you can see AckTL or JnC they both customize headlights and tail lights without you getting your hands dirty.

19's it is. Thanks! Sorry I've been on this website for 2 hours wasting away my life and I haven't gotten anywhere. Can anyone direct me to where I can find some good looking TL's? I went to the albums and got through 15 pages and got fed up. This website is ridiculous!!!! What about an air intake? Waste of money or no way?

This website is ridiculous, I would just say be creative using the Search field as well as look under the photography sub field, theres tons of people showing off their cars there. As for the Air Intake... I would say Def not a waste of money. You can increase you engines performance a little as well as make your engine sound a bit nicer.

This is funny. The way your question progresttion is going, next, you're gonna ask him which wheels HE thinks look best on YOUR car. Guys, don't spoon feed him the answers. If you've been on here for over 2 hours, then you definitely should've found the Photo Gallery by now. Get to work.

Yea that's too tight of a fit for my style. I am just going to the mexican rim shop tomorrow and hopefully they'll take care of me. What's this I hear about the Michelin Pilot, Falken, Pirelli Pzero Nero? I don't care about money. What's the best tire?

No, friend, there is no "best of" gallery. You should do like every other members on here and SEARCH til you find what you want. Yeah, I admit, there are a bunch of redundant "How will this look, Will this fit, What do you think" threads on here already and sorry if you're impatient but if you were to actually filter your SEARCH choices for 19" - 3G TL - Photo Gallery, you may find it more productive. What you're asking is nothing new and your thread will rightfully take it's place among the 15 pages of crap.

Thanks all. I found some guy named Drew, bforbrian, and TLheaven who all have a nice cars, but I found Drew has the best fitting rims I've seen thus far. I think I am going to go with that type of set-up just different rims. I am in a rush because I have the 18' aspecs with the Yokohoma's and my front two tires are bald and are worn down bad :/

Do you guys think I'll rub with this set up?
19" 8.5in 42 mm front and 19" 9.5in 42mm rear
245/35R19 front
275/30R19 rear

Does that sound right? I heard someone have a +22 offset but idk what these numbers really mean.

Thanks! I went through about 8 pages and only saw one picture that was pretty decent. The tire tuck isn't really my thing though. Must be a west coast thing. I'll post something when it's finished

You'll probably rub with those tire sizes on the rear. Are you lowered at all?? If you get 19's you'll look like a 4x4 unless you're lowered. I wouldn't get 19's without a drop. You sound like you're on the conservative side so my advice would be to avoid going staggard and avoid low offsets. Unless you're dead set on a staggard set up I would't do it. It just makes zero sense on a FWD car. It looks great on the TL but it's nonsensical.

My suggestion would be approx. 19x8 or 19x8.5 on all four corners with offsets +35 or above. AND A DROP! I don't have the expertise that a lot of guys on here have but that should treat you right.

Just browse the tires, wheels, and suspension forum until you find some cars you like. There's a lot of them there. Get ready to be overwhelmed and to drop some cash...

EDIT*** Also check out ronjonwheels.com - these wheels are made for our cars and will look great.

I like the look of lowering your car but doesn't it ruin the ride quality etc? How much does it cost to lower your car? If it's more than 1K I don't think it's worth it IMO. I appreciate all the help guys. I am going to the rim shop today and hopefully i come out with something good. I'll post some pictures when it's all said and done.

Lowering your car can be far less than 1k or far more, depending on how you want to do it. Coilovers are the best route and will run you ~1k. If you don't want to lower it then I wouldn't get 19's... it won't look good. Go with 18's if you want to stay at the stock height. 90% of the pictures you see on this website will be lowered TL's.

EDIT*** And I would say 19's would hurt your ride quality more than a decent coilover system would. :twocents:

Off the top of my head I don't. I have a few but their setups are insane consisting of Air Suspension and huge as rims with crazy offsets. I just like being different and these guys have absolutely thought out the box... Ill post some links here if I find some

Go to Heeltoe http://www.heeltoeauto.com/HT-Spec-C...-pr-65757.html they have their HT Spec 1 System for 599.00 use the acurazinerocks discount code and they come out to $578.00 plus shipping which depends where you live. I got them on my TL-S and love them. Installing them shouldn't be to expensive. Maybe one-two hours of labor if the mechanic shop knows what they are doing (roughly $200.00 depending on their labor rates). You wont spend more 800-900 the most with them installed.

But if I were you purchase the Drop Springs that lower .5 - 1.5 and their cheaper from 150-300 depending the brand you purchase. Here are some HnRs for $246.00 plus shipping http://www.heeltoeauto.com/H-R-Sport...-pr-63595.html
because the Coilovers will lower your car alot more and you say you don't like that tire tucking style. Or even look for the A-spec suspension. Someone on here should be selling a set on the black market. Lowering your car doesn't ruin the ride quality, It may be stiffer but you car will handle a whole lot better than OEM height

Thanks for all your help. I decided on the Vossen CV1 or CV3 and still researching on the offset stuff. I also don't know what that coilover stuff means, but I'll check it out. Thanks for all the info again. I should have pictures up by next week.

And Jsonkimz where do you get off saying that I don't want to spend money. You're 23? Relax guy. Cars aren't my thing. If I could give someone money to hook up my car I would.

This whole thread is an indication that you don't want to spend money. I'm not the one that needs to relax... It was a harmless comment and wasn't personal; you don't have to get all butthurt. And my age is irrelevant. For all I know you're 16. Believe me, to get your car to look the way you want it to look, like half of these guy's cars look, you're going to have to spend some money... wheels, drop, labor, tweaking, etc, etc... You can't just slap some 19's on there and 4x4 around and look good. It's crazy the amount of money that some of these guys have invested in their cars...

Just think of coilovers as the "complete" way to drop your car. It's how you'll be able to get the most out of your drop, performance, etc... doing it the right way. But you pay for it, because depending on what coilover system you get it can run you quite a bit more than taking other "short cuts." If you're not big into performance and don't care to have an ideal setup then I wouldn't worry about coilovers. A decent set of lowering springs would be much cheaper and will work but it's not the best option considering the ride quality and longevity of your car; I kinda view it as "halfassing" it.

Based on what you've said previously, I would research the A-Spec suspension if I were you. It's an OEM product for the TL, and is a little more sports oriented than the stock suspension. It provides a slight drop which, in my opinion, is just barely enough to make 19's look good. Look it up on eBay but you can get it for around $600. Hope this helps.

EDIT*** If the A-Spec suspension is the route you want to go, make sure you get the Manual Transmission suspension regardless of the transmission type of your car. Even if you have an automatic you'll want to get the manual suspension!
