19" tire size

I just called a Nexen dealer in Dallas, inquiring about the N3000 19" tires.. and he recommended 245 35 for the front and 275 30 for the rear. This would be for staggered rims. Is that too wide?
They guy in the link below has 235 35 and 265 30. I do not know if being wider will make them rub or how they will look. Probably not as stretched as this guy. 10mm wider is .4"
https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/3g-parts-koni-yellow-type-s-tails-rims-more-878540/

separately I am a little confused on how a tire can be "stretched" onto an 8.5" rim, if 235mm = 9.25". How is that possible? It sounds like the tire would hang over . I guess maybe I don't know what portion of the tire is 235mm. Is it the tread or the rim of the tire. Either way, 235mm is bigger than 8.5"..

Thanks-

Unless the Nexen guy owns a TL, you gotta take his advice with a grain of salt. 275 is pretty wide, but not impossible, especially if you aren't lowered too much.

Also, you are correct...there would be no "stretch" with a 235 tire on a 8.5" wheel.

the 275 would go on a 9.5" wheel. the 235 or 245 would go on a 8.5" wheel. the guy in the above link has 235s on an 8.5" wheel and they appear stretched a bit. that is the confusing part. I'm looking at getting those same rims.

separately if I have a bit more tire, that is ok because I am not going to ride as low as he is. but one thing I forgot about, if I have a 245 and a 275 tire which is a bit wider than his, then if I keep the same ratio of 30 and 35 I will also be a bit taller. because 30 and 35 are a % of the width. It would only be fractional but its hard to tell the end result. so little can mean a lot.

I just looked at my own tires and I have 235s on my 8" rims and the tire goes str8 up. not stretched and it doesn't bulge out. so if I had 245s on an 8.5" rim on the front, it would be about the same profile, meaning str8 up. 10mm difference is .4 inches. so now I have something to compare to. I can either keep it like the str8 up profile that I have or go slightly stretched like the guy in the link above.

if I want more tire or a better ride it might be best going with the 245 and 275s. plus if I want to fill a little more gap, that will help since I won't be as low as him. however if I want a more extreme look, or more sporty, then go with 235&265

I just did the math comparing 235 35s to 245 35s and 245s are only about .14 inches taller from the rim. That between 1 to 2 tenths of an inch taller. That's not much.

the only part I am confused on is if 235mm is over 9 inches wide, then why don't my current tires buldge out past the rim? my base wheels are 17 by 8. and the tire size is 245 35 17. regardless of the 35 or 17 specs, the 245 should go way wider than my rim. but it doesn't. the tire goes mostly str8 up.
