19" Rims with no drop? Pros/Cons
Alright, so I think i found a set of 19" Inspyre black machined rims for my 05 TL.
I dont have my tl lowered at all. Will that affect how good it looks? I mean, if I dont plan on lowering it, will 19's look funny? I dont really care if the wheels are 19 or 18", but I found a great deal on 19's so I figured Id jump on them.
Any cons of having 19" wheels???
Thanks!!!
Please note that i will be moving up to these 19s after being on stockies the entire time.

pros->you'll save money by not lowering your car.
cons->we'll make fun of you incessantly until you do lower your car.

PA has some of the worst roads in the whole country, which is the main reason why I'm not dropping mine. I've hit potholes and bumps in the stockers that I really, truly think would've bent an 18" or 19" rim with any drop, i.e. less travel. At most, I'd get Eibachs to lower it around an inch, but that's way down the road when I get antsy to mod and have run out of all other ideas. I have lots of other to-do's. So forum peer pressure isn't going to change my mind.
Think about this: when you look at a bone stock TL, do you honestly think "hey, that's a good looking car" or "OMG! it's hideous and the only thing that would make it presentable is less wheel gap?!!!" C'mon, AZ. It's a good looking car, dropped or not. Do what you want OP, it's your ride.

sure. it really has been covered already though. personal preference really.
i prefer no wheel gap. actually negative wheel gap. my tires are tucked over an inch and a half in the front and back lol.
but, the way i see it is this: you have 19s and stock ride height. basically you (in theory) decreased your ride quality (by putting lower profile tires on) and didnt even make the car look good. now it just looks awkward.
at least when you lower the car and get 19s, you decrease the ride quality but you look good while doing it.
thats just my opinion.

we wouldnt say the same about stock rims because with stock rims, it doesnt look bad not being lowered. the reason for that is the higher aspect ratio(more tire) you have, the less awkward it is to have some wheel gap. so when you get 19"s with low aspect ratio, the wheel gap stands out more.

touche.
thanks for the explanation. I'm in the process of planning my setup and having trouble deciding between 18 or 19. I thought there were other issues surrounding 19s.
But yes, I agree, rims w/ no drop is

40 series on a 19" rim omg!! that would be a tonka truck wheel!!
no way plus our speedo would be way off not to mention you would be like 2" taller than stock!

The first picture in Murph145 should be enough to dissuade you from 19s. Also, Acura never specced the car for 19s. Plus the 19s will amplify how small our rotors are. And if you lower it to the extent the posters above have, its going to hurt.
