um....yea....um...

Rather than give you a hard time, I will just answer quickly...19s will fit no problem, I am dropped on Comptechs with 19s w/o an issue. Yes, bolt patter is important as well as offset.

Relax Homeboy. The reason they were giving you a hard time was because you could have found the answers to your questions by searching.

For 19's I'd recomend you get 19x8-8.5 with an offset between 40 and 45mm. I've seen as low as 38mm and as high as 48mm.

Agreed.

For reference the regular wheel is 17x8.0 and 45mm offset with a 5x114.3 bolt pattern.

As automata stated, 19x8.0 or 8.5 will fit. 40-45 mm offsets ensure perfect fit. You MUST use the 5x114.3 bolt patterns.

If you have a manual there is the issue of caliper clearance. Even if a rim fits all the specs that we stated here, if the spokes travel inward, or just don't have enough room to clear the Brembos it will not fit.

Search in this sub-forum, there are plenty of threads about this.

I have 36 mm offset wheels and they fit perfectly. 19 x 8.5 wheels with 245 35's will work with NO problems at all.

not even searching, there are threads in the WHEEL forum and the photo gallery of people with TLs that have 19s and even 20s!

rim choice is part-1, part-2 is you need to choose the right tire, tire/rim combos are endless, so you need to choose the right combo to avoid rubs and to clear the brembo calipers, etc...

a 45mm offset on a 8" will be different than a 45mm offset on a 8.5" rim.

if you don't go too crazy, your aspect ratio chosen should equate to stock tire height, or go one ratio taller. as example if a 40 aspect equates to stock height then you may want to try a 45 just to see if it will fill out the well better. and of course, tire height is a equation of tire width, aspect ratio, and rim diameter.

i use ([(width/25)*(aspect/100)]*2)+rim diameter = Tall(inches)
accuracy within a few hundreths of an inch due to my rounding off the inches-to-mm conversion.

So what would the best offset be for a 8" rim? More towards 40mm or more towards 45mm?

Stock width is 8" and 45mm. So 45mm would be stock however 40-45 will do

Will the wheels being larger (19") than stock make a difference in offsets, or is 45mm still ideal? Thanks for the help.

No. 45 mm is still ideal. However if the spokes do not clear the calipers (I'm not sure if you have the 6MT or not), then you have to go with a different wheel or get the same type with a lower offset.

To give you an example, a person on A-Tl bought Axis Hiros in 45mm offset but the spokes did not clear the calipers. He then tried them with the 35mm offset and it fit perfectly. The only problem is that it is more prone to rubbing since it is not as "in" as the 45mm offset would be. (He has not reported any problems with his setup though).

Short answer: 40-45 mm is still ideal as long as the spokes/wheel design allows space for the Brembos.
