18's w/40mm offset - Big mistake!!

Sup people,
I have made the unfortunate mistake of buying something b4 reading these forums. I have put on 18X8 MKW MK12 wheels on my NBP 99TL without checking the offset. The shop said I would be cool, but now I got this gap that looks bigger and bigger every time I look at my ride!
Can't drop without rubbing, would like advise on how I can go about fixing this situation I got myself into. I can't front...the rims are hot, but this gap has got to go! Any ideas??

You're screwed. The only way you can drop your car is if you get rid of your rims. Hot rims? That's a

you are set if you can mill 10mm from the mounting surface without destroying the lug seats and/or weakening the wheel...5mm is ok too, but getting a 50 offset would be best on that rim width. otherwise, you can consider not lowering or getting something else.

IMO, I don't think this is safe to do, even if it is possible.

Sorry to say but you ain't got much options. Maybe a larger tire to take up some of that wheel gap...but that defeats the purpose of going with 18's.
Best to sell them and get the proper fit wheels..

Thanks for the feedback! I don't think I'm comfortable messing with the wheel..I was hoping I would trim some of that wall behind the wheel or roll the fenders. Looks l'm stuck with these unless I sell them.
Sup BDI, yeah I'm a Lambda...alumni now.
