When I change my wheels and the car must rocognize a new TPMS, I just drive. After a few miles the car picks up the new sensors automatically. I'm not sure if it happens after a certain amount of miles or if the speed triggers the reset... it just happens
I'm having a very similar TPMS issue. I took off the stock Type-S wheels off my '07 TL Type-S three years ago, put the rubber on a set of base '07 TL wheels w/ their TPMS still attached (like MrFluffy's picture). Drove a few miles, TPMS found on all four wheels worked great for 3 years. The Type-S wheels went into my garage with their TPMS sensors still attached. Last Friday I exchanged the wheels and put the original Type-S back on the car. I drove for a few miles with three of the four reading in the low 40's PSI and one reading 56 psi. The next day and about 20 miles later the whole system went into error and the monitor screen show '--' for each wheel pressure. It is fixed in this condition.
