Cool 06 Rims on an 04 TL

Alright, I know I can put the 06 rims on my 04 TL. I'm just curious if anyone knows how the 06 wheels will balance without the tire pressure sensors?? Or are the sensors integrated into the rims so I don't need to worry about balancing issues? I ask because I smoked 2 of my 04 rims and I might be able to get some 06 rims - I just worry about balancing issues. Please tell me I can calm down and not worry...

when you put tires on it it should be re-balanced anyway.. make sure you let the dealer do the balancing.. they have the best machine.. it's a hunter road force..

Not all dealer are equipped with the Hunter Road Force Balancer even if Acura/Honda strongly suggest that they invest in one.

I know that none of the Acura dealers in Quebec have it.

Best regards

A great thing indeed! But my Acura dealer doesn't have one either... It's amazing to see how many people haven't even heard of this machine.

Some more info I found out today is that if you don't have the tire pressure sensors in the tire they will likely be off-balance and/or harder to balance. For anyone looking to buy 06 rims, make sure they include the sensors, or that you have some sensors for them.

They might have heard how much it cost!!! (4 to 5 times more expensive then a decent wheel balancer)

Here is the web site or the Hunter GSP9700 Road Force Balancer

http://www.gsp9700.com/

You can search for a local shop that has it online.

Best regards

I'm also particularly impressed by the Straightrak LFM addition that measures lateral force and tells you the preferred location of each tire on the car to minimize pull.

Having seen some pros use this machine and show me what it can do, I get very frustrated when I run into idiots who run it like a regular balancer and, well, do as good (or shitty) a job as they would on a regular balancer.

The tire pressure sensors are part of the valve stems, not the wheel. The wheels are slightly modified for space to allow for the valve stem/sensors. Balancing would be a good idea if you do not have the sensors.

I have after market ACE wheels on my '06 with the Acura TPMS sensors. Works great.

Had you posted this a week ago I would have been. Unfortunetly (or fortunetely) the 06 rims with tires are already in transit to my house.

Maybe you should post the rims in the black market. I would think you would be able to make a sale relatively easy in there. I saw some rims that went in there for about 500 or 600 bucks. The 06 rims I got off ebay were 850 for 4 new rims and 4 new tires.
