Yet Another O2 CEL Issue
Yet Another O2 CEL Issue
I'm new to the forum and told myself my first post wouldn't be regarding an issue/troubleshoot, but here goes...
I've searched/read other threads with similar o2 CEL codes, but I didn't find any other threads with the same issue as mine. Essentially, I'm getting 2 codes that are symptomatic of a bad o2 but the interesting thing is thats its intermittent and sporadic (aka the CEL doesn't stay on). I know that it may be due to loose harnesses/frays/etc and I'll be checking them with my volt/ohm meter later today.
The interesting thing is that it seems to turn on and off at the same time based on gas level... IMHO, I don't think it's coincidence, but is like to be wrong. At 1/3 it turns on, turns off at 1/4, and back on at 1/8 ... The second I fill up it goes away. It's been like this for at least 5-6 fill-ups. Furthermore, each time I have my friend plug in his Snap-On diagnostic, the code either doesn't store or it'll show up for 10 seconds then disappear.
Darn elusive CEL. I'm hesitant to swap the o2 if it's going to randomly throw codes again, but may just need to bite the bullet and do it to eliminate factors.
Threw this code the first time... P2251 - o2 negative sensor current control circuit - open bank 1, sensor 1
Threw this code the second time, but never the 2 codes at the same time... P2238 - Rear air/fuel ratio sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) IP line low voltage
Is that weird or just me???

Okay... So I went through and checked all the harnesses/PCM/etc according to the service manual. It all checks out okay... Still doesn't explain intermittent/elusive codes especially as it relates to gas level.
Thoughts anyone?
