Xenon Headlights question

So I have a 2007 Acura TL Type-S and want to upgrade the high/low beams on the car to 8000k Xenon HID. I know that the car already has the bi-xenon hid in them so I was wondering if I actually need to buy a whole kit to do the new lights (as the existing might not be able to handle the light) or if I can just buy the bulb to fit on existing. Sorry for the dumb question but I couldn't really find a direct source for an answer. Thanks!

You just need the bulbs to change to a 8000k headlight. The 8k will reduce the amount of light the bulb puts out by a fair amount, so be warned. The bulbs also a pain to change so keep that in mind.

Do you know what the light output is stock on the car? As compared to the 8000k. Since you said the 8k will decrease the light output, Im guessing the stock ones are more?

the kelvin scale.

the higher you go up on the Kelvin scale, the more color (blue and purple) but less lumens available.

the stock head lights are 4300 Kelvin.
and provide the best out put of usable light.

when you step up to 8000 Kelvin, you lose the amount of usable light.
YOU WILL BE STRAINING YOUR EYES with 8000 Kelvin bulbs

8K is walking the line of uselessness. 6K is great in the dry but in the rain it's useless on my car. 8K is be just plain old useless. Check Morimoto though. Their bulbs are 50 bucks and do an awesome job.

you can find the Morimoto bulbs at www.theretrofitsource.com

we are advising you to stay at 4300 - 5000 Kelvin.

Ditto to what others have said. This would be a mistake. Also, we don't have low/high beam lamps in our TL's, which you probably already know.
