So, I just bought a 04 TL automatic tranny. with 58k miles on it.

I just changed the oil a couple of weeks ago.


I drove my car alot this week, and today in the morning drove 30 miles to and from a place. I came home I parked the car. Later on the day today, I needed to go somewhere else. SO I do the same thing, I put the key in the ignition, and start the car. But this time, I see 3 lights come on, the VSA the Check Engine light and the Warning sign !, 3 lights on. SO I am worrid, And when I turned the car on, I hurd a weird noise from the engine, not the normal sound, a much more different sound from the engine. I try to drive the car, I back out, it works normally, then I put it on drive, and drive, but one big problem, the engine is stuck at 1k rpm, and when i put gas the car engine has no response, I dont have no power when I push the gas, it just sticks to 1k rpm so I do go about 15 mph or so. I come back and park the car again. WTF is wrong with my car? it was fine a month ago when i bought it used. THe cars engine is almost good as new, the oil has been changed. The only thing I can think of is either the tranny, which in my mind was just fine. Or the computer, ECU. Anyone have a clue whats wrong with my car?

read, the forums better, looks like it is definately the throttle body sensor. Stupid irrigation systems.

 

I have been dealing with this same situation for over a few months and my mechanic or the dealer don't know exactly what is wrong with the car.

I will be driving and all of a sudden the three lights (check engine, warning, vsa) come on and the car won't go past a certain rpm. When you turn the car off and restart it, the problem goes away until the next time. At first it was happening about once every month, then every couple weeks. Now it is happening daily.

Anyone else have an idea on how to fix this problem? Thanks.

 

I would have the dealer see what the trouble code is as to why the Check Engine Light is on. This is what I can guess right now:
Faulty or dirty wheel sensor
Faulty Accelerator Position Sensor or Drive-By-Wire component.

 

this is exactly what happened to my rental Pontiac Grand Prix when i was in Cali a few months ago. I was cruising back from Joshua Tree, .5 hrs in to my 1.45hr trip, and all of a sudden the car drops in speed and wont go over 10mph. It fricken sucked, and i was out in the middle of nowhere. At least i had a nice wind farm to stare at while i waited. Sorry, i know this doesnt help the cause...

you haven't been pulling the e-brake have ya? lol
i had my car in at the dealership a couple weeks back, and my buddy ended up driving while it was on the lift, aka up in the air. a bit later, all three lights came on - just had to reset the codes/ecu.

 

I wish it was something as simple as that.
