Wrong outside mirror pivots on reverse

Suddenly, the driver's side rearview mirror is tilting down when I shift into reverse, and the passenger mirror stays in place. Normally, it is the passenger side mirror that tilts.

The dealer has not had a chance to examine it yet, but it's going in this week. If I get a fix, I'll post it. The car is a 2005 TL/6MT, no Navi, with about 12k miles.

You know that you can change which mirror tilts down right?

Oi, just push the mirror adjuster thingy to the right. You can select which mirror to tilt.

Yeah what they said.

Whatever side you have it on for mirror adjustment that side flips down.

Even though the dealer showed me this feature, among many others, when I picked up the car, I also saw it described nicely in the manual. I'm one of those wierd people that read manuals for enjoyment.

I've heard to fix this they have to replace the entire passenger side of the car in order to get it working.

It will never be the same again. Sorry

Oops

Should have gone back to square 1 and checked the book. Just as you said, plain as day. Thanks, folks.

^^^Yeah, I don't even need the Navi. Then again, my wife just tells me what to do...

A buddy of mine once said about computer programs (comparing Apple to Microsoft), "The better the software is, the fewer books there are to explain it."

I have accidentally hit the mirror switch before and realized what it was when my driver's mirror tilted instead of the passenger one tilted, but for the life of me can't figure out what I was doing to mistakenly move the switch. I don't think I was hitting the TCS button...

Does the tilt down mirror selector move for memory settings too like for passenger1 and passenger2 remote functions?? Just an idea.

I remember when I got the car i couldn't figure out what the noise was.LOL. When I noticed the mirror moving I was so amazed. Sucks driving other cars without it now IMO
