Won't Start

This morning I walked outside and turned the key in my car. The electrical components (A/C, radio, dash) all lit up and worked normally. However, my engine didn't do a think when I put the key into the third position.

Any thoughts? Clearly, I'm far from a "car guy" but thought this board might be able to help.

It could be the battery (especially if it's the OE battery) or starter. Make sure the battery cables aren't sulfated, rub them down with a wire brush and brush the battery terminals. Then clamp them down again. If it makes a click when you start then it's definitely the battery, get a boost or charge it up. If no click, and you can turn on headlights while starting the car.. it's your starter. Take a breaker bar and knock the armature of the starter to loosen up the built up iron / carbon material. It'll work for a while with this method but eventually you'll need a new starter (~$100).
