Windshield wiper problems

I recently tried to use my delay on my windshield wipers instead of delaying they just run constant. has any one experienced this problem before? or have any ideas how to fix it?

I tried to locate a relay for the wipers with now luck.

would appreciate any help

Check the control unit with a multimeter for continuity/voltage as outlined here:

IIRC; they only delay when idling/stopped.

I think he meant they constantly go wipe wipe wipe wipe instead of leaving a certain amount of time in between wiping. I might be wrong though.

ONLY when stopped/idle.

if you';re driving, it's gonna go full speed no matter what you set it at

He means the intermittent settings, not delay, I think. The wipers don't run when stopped/idle and resume back when not. But the intermittent works as it should all the time when moving. Thus the confusion part.

Uh, what?

If I'm driving and I set my windshield wipers on intermittent they won't wipe every second. On the lowest speed there's like a 10 second gap between each wipe.
Which is what I think he meant, but who knows really.

Either way I'd say look at the switch first, wiper motors second.

The wipers work, sure. But a set of settings on the switch doesn't. So the switch is where I would start first. It's my experience that Honda combo switches fail more than they should. I've had it happen in two Hondas in my life.

Exactly my point, wipers work, I wouldn't see wiper motors being an issue in this case.

Well it works, partially. So all that eliminates to me is any fuses. The switch could be sending bad signals or no signals at all, or the motors could be receiving signals wrong or not at all.

OP made it sound like he hadn't used the intermittent setting for a while. Could be that the contactors in the wiper stalk have oxidized slightly and aren't making a good circuit.

Cycle that little rotary portion of the stalk (the +/- int time) like a coked out monkey looking for a treat. Might be able to scrape away enough passivated layer to get it working.

Source: am coked out monkey. Got treats this way once. And wipers started working right again too.

yes sorry for the confusion, I was talking about the intermittent settings. when move the switch in to the intermittent setting position and try to adjust the knob for the time between each swipe of the windshield wipers nothing changes and it just continues swipe as if no delay was set.
