I got my Acura TL 2008 windshield replaced yesterday but I noticed a gap between the trim and the actual windshield. The Auto Glass shop used an aftermarket FUYAO brand windshield. I can see the clips inside the gap and I posted some close up pics of it. I don't think this is normal to have such a big gap and I don't remember seeing this on the previous windshield which was a Pilkington. Can anyone confirm if this is normal and if not can someone please post a closeup pic of what it's supposed to look like. If I need to take it back I need to have an idea of what it looks like normally and present it to the auto glass shop. When I called the glass shop back and mentioned about the gap he said it was normal but I wasn't really sure. Is there something missing here?
That’s not normal. It looks like they may have replaced the molding clips and adhered them too high, creating a gap between the glass and the base of the molding. I would take the car back to them and ask them (kindly) to correct it.
Damn I was hoping that wasn't the case. Hopefully they will fix it. I will try to be as tactful as possible but I'm def not happy about this. Are the pics you posted of 3rd gen TL as well?
Yeah, definitely not normal. They will have to fix it. It's very possible that when they pulled the window trim they broke some of the plastic clips. Then glued the broken clips together. It could be that the aftermarket they used is not the correct size. I always use safelite. I feel that they are the best. They have always done a great job.

Yes, mine is a 2007. I’d be surprised if the company you hired won’t fix it.
I went back and he was claiming that the trim needed to be replaced because supposedly it might have gotten warped by the sun. It doesn't look warped at all. He removed the trim to show me that the male and female clip are in all the way, which they seemed to be. After showing him the pics of AMTMJ's TL, reiterating that this is not norma,l and that it might be the clips, he said he will order new clips and then also mentioned that he might have pushed down too hard after gluing it. First he is going to try new clips to see if it will help. I don't know what to think at this point.
