Window won't stay up???

I recently replaced my window regulator and since putting it in when I hit the auto up the window goes all the up but then pauses for a second and goes half way down. I tried to reset it( hold 3 sec, lower hold 3 sec, raise and hold 3 sec) and it is still doing the same thing. Anyone have a solution for me???

did you make sure that you installed the regulator properly? The regulator could be off a bit since it seems like the window motor is sensing that there is an obstruction not allowing it to go up and thus reversing back down.

Here is a thought - I had an issue replacing a mast for my power antennae on my 94 Accord. I bought the mast independent of motor itself and the install went pretty easy. That is until I turned the radio on and the mast reached full extension and then heard click, click, click. Basically I didn't have the track of the mast completely in sych with the motor. The motor is set to turn / travel a certain distance - basically bring the mast all the way up or all the way down.

Not sure if it the same or applicable to your window, but I would make sure the window and the regulator are all the way down or all the way up when you install them. If the regulator is not set at absolute bottom it may be trying to move the window up to far - hitting the top of the door frame and retracting thinking it has something on the way up.

I checked the service manual and it's a tad more involved than what I thought. You need to reset it and some more steps, I'll post up some pictures for you.

Thanks csmeance, I just did the sequence, took about 5 minutes and it is now working properly again. Now my wife has no reason for wanting to get a new car, a least for this week. Love this site!!!!
