I have a 2006 TL auto with 135,000 miles and am concern about when the trans will go out. I found a 2007-08 for sale with 38,000 miles and was wondering if I should buy it and hold it until the 06 trans croaks. All these post about trans problems has me jump.

Is it a direct remove and replace.

No. The harnesses and pcm are different. If I remember correctly, the bell housing and bolt pattern are also different.
