why is it so damn hard to clean the windows?

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have never been able to get my windows clean without having those ugly streak marks all over the place. I even used windex, but still the same streaks. I have tried microfiber towels and cotton towels, but no luck. What does every one else use?

I use a spray called "Sprayway" (I think). It's an aerosol that sprays a fine white foam on the glass. I then use a microfiber towel to wipe it off. It does a good job of cutting through the film that builds up on hot days. Sometimes, it takes multiple attempts to get it all off, but it's far more effective than Windex.

I have also found the spray stuff in the can to work better than Windex as well. The can I happen to be looking at now is "Eagle One 20/20 Aerosol Glass Cleaner" It was around 4 bucks at the local auto supply place.

If you look at the warning on it it has much more scary stuff in it than Windex so I wouldn't spray it on things other than glass.

For the last few years I have been using Windex. A couple of sprays, rub it around with foan/fabric part of a combination squeegee (like those at the gas station, but with a short handle), then use the squeegee side, and finally polish with a cloth. There are place that only the cloth will reach, so you have to work a little harder there. Overall, this works well for me.

Things you can try also is letting your car sit in the sunlight for a bit before you clean the windows, if the window is warm, the extra windex will evaporate faster reducing the streaks. Also try two applications. If the window is pretty dirty you might need to try and clean it twice to get all the residue off. Making the windows streak free has always been hard to do, and is a huge pet peeve of mine when it isn't.

I'm sure some of you will laugh but here is what I use.
GM Glass cleaner is a spray can that comes out in white foam. Then I use just regular newspaper to wipe it off. Absolutely NO streaks or lint. Lot cheaper than buying towels or anything like that.
Try it and you'll be shocked.

i either use newspaper or a really heavy paper cloth. my first job was at jiffy lube and we had these blue paper towels that were the best god damn thing to use in the world. they wouldnt leave streaks or any paper particles. i think they are pricey because we only used them for about a year before switching to these cheap ass brown paper towels. Anyway, after finding good quality drying material, there are two things i alternate between on my windows. the first is simply rainex that i spray on. its a pain in the ass to go through with the entire buff and remove process but it does leave the windows crystal clear. regardless of how well it works when it rains, it gets the windows clean. the other stuff that i use is...ok god damnit i cant remember the name right this second. ill post again when i get the can.
