Have you noticed any chaffing or red bumps after application? I got it around the entire rim. This is going to save me a TON in TP. Thanks Dave!

Another fan of Shin Etsu Grease...

Originally bought it for my Honda S2000 to eliminate noise from my hardtop... But now I use it to lubricate all of my door, trunk and hood seals and gaskets... Wonderful stuff... Not only should it reduce noise, it will also condition your rubber seals to avoid them drying up and cracking...

If you don't have a tube... Go get one!

I do see myself buying another tube at some point... I am very light on usage...but between the two cars, and all the rubber gaskets, I am already down to about a half a tube...

This stuff is great in the spring once you fully detail the car, polish and wax; this is the finishing touch. Makes the car seem factory fresh again. Good stuff.

Sorry to bump up an old post. I just got a tube of this stuff today and applied it on all my door weather seals and the seals in the trunk. Seems to be doing a pretty good job so far.

$16 is a good price. Some dealers charge almost $30 for it. Even more expensive is the urea grease. Something like $50 for an ounce. I'm sure you can find it cheaper.. anyways.. the urea stinks like piss because it's piss (beargryllzzzz.jpg), but aside from accessory and door contact points where metal to metal/plastic causes friction / heat.. use the piss grease. Just a tiny dab will do.. just like shihtzu grease (justn), urea shitzz is legit.

Every year, or so...I do all my doors/truck and what I can of the sunroof seal...still just as plush and vacuum sealed 12 years later...

I actually am going to try it on the my rear top hat bushings on the suspension...I've gotten this weird grandma couch squeak from both sides over the years and I'm convinced it's this.

Been using the shin etsu grease about 2 twice a year on all the seals and other parts that are rubber or come in contact with one another. Works great and everything seals well and looks good!!

Urea grease less than $10: Acura Parts | OEM Acura Parts | Factory Acura Parts

Shin Etsu shouldn't cost more than $12 (+ shipping): Acura Parts | OEM Acura Parts | Factory Acura Parts

Dielectric grease is about $5: Acura Parts | OEM Acura Parts | Factory Acura Parts

It's the silicone brake-caliper-pin grease that's really expensive (almost $50): Acura Parts | OEM Acura Parts | Factory Acura Parts

I got mines off amazon for $17.50 included with shipping. Price will vary depending on shipping location. It would've been $22 to get it shipped to me if I ordered it from oemacuraparts.com

Just for reference if anyone plans to order a tube of Shin Etsu.

Exclamation Another Excellent Option is 3M Silicone Paste

3M 08946 Clear Silicone Paste is top notch silicone paste. I'm sure the shin-etsu, excuse me if I've misspelled that, is a good brand of silicone past as well.

I found that I could get the 3M Silicone Paste cheaper and it is well known to be one of the highest quality silicone pastes on the market. I got mine on ebay for $20 for an 8 ounce tube; you might be able to find it elsewhere cheaper.

I use it on everything I need to lubricate including of course caliper pins, use it as heat-sink paste, use it on electrical connector since its quality di-electric paste, and of course I use it to restore/protect/lubricate any rubber parts.

Just wanted to let people know of another excellent quality silicone paste that they can use to achieve the same results. That being said, I do not recommend sil-glyde or any other silicone based paste; they are not nearly as pure as the 3M paste (or the shin-etsu, I assume).

If you already have the shin-etsu or find it cheaper to buy than the 3M paste; just know that if it is high quality silicone paste similar to 3M, which I'm fairly sure it is, there are many excellent uses for it.

Truly a must have for any professional mechanic or serious DIY mechanic.
