Rear window stopped working out of no where.. car has 34k miles..
window just clicks wont roll up took it to acura today.. there telling me they wont cover it because my windows r "tinted" and it puts more stress on the motor burning it out.. not to mention i have EXTENDED 100k warranty.. needless to say this will be the last acura i ever fuckin own
def not the end of this

the little sticky part inside the window has come off and it is holding the window down, i had this problem, take it to the place you got your windows tinted to, tell them you need a felt strip placed over the plastic peice down inside the door panel, it will be fixed, thats what i had to do

Yes.. im asking a question WUT THE HELL DO I NEED TO DO TO MAKE ACURA COVER THIS?? Its BS.. a window would NOT go out simply because of tint i dont care if it is 0.001'' thicker..ill be in there first thing in the am....the light Iis NOT on the switch.. but it makes a click sound when i try to push up
especially when a 1600 extended warranty is purchased

Go tell acura your problem, don't use vulgarity and anger to intimidate us about your problems.

Check out Page 5 of this Service News issue:

http://www.in.honda.com/Rjanisis/pubs/SN/B070700.PDF

That's what you're fighting. You can say it's BS, you can rant, yell and scream, but the fact remains, this is Acura's point of view.

You need to be prepared to calmy, rationally and doggedly convince them otherwise for your specific case. Show them the article. Point out that it refers to *weatherstripping* thats been mangled/mis-handled by the tinters, not the tint itself. Explain that your tinter took the door panel off, that your weathersrtipping is in perfect shape. That this is NOT the cause of the problem. Etc, etc, etc.

IOW - If it's me and you come in yelling and screaming and/or being sarcastic/derogatory/condescending you'll be lucky if you get a free cup of coffee, let alone get your car fixed for free.

OR: pop your door panel off and see if you can fix it yourself as the above poster suggested.

GL.

Come on man. You modify or have someone modify something that now causes problems and you blame Honda and/or the dealership for not fixing it?

Like everyone said, if you go in without being offensive, the dealer may do it out of good will. But to demand a fix is totally ridiculous.

Umm did you check the window lock button? The light on the window switch also turns off when the window lock is activated

it's surprising how many annoying issues can arise from getting your windows tinted, which is why I had my Acura dealer do it. They just farm it out to one of the local shops but it's backed by the dealer. This would have gave you more fire-power.

Interesting timing. I have had intermittant problems with my passenger front window. Goes part way up. Clicks off and goes back down. Had it in 3 or 4 times over the last year. More recently. I think they finally did fix it last month. Anyway I was going out to my car last night and noticed on one of the other windows a bit of the felt I put in so it would not scratch the tint sticking out a tiny bit. Always did that on this window.

I never ended up getting them tinted but, wonder last night if perhaps the moleskin I installed might have caused the problem. They ended up replacing weather stripping (inside I THINK will not swear to it) and for now the problem has gone away. They did not charge me anything but, kind of blew it off the first few times which kind of annoyed me. Something about some windows are tighter then others and just slapped a ton of grease on it.

It's amazing how many people on this forum make modifications to their vehicles, then come down on Acura for not covering them when something goes wrong as a direct result of those mods, usually from improperly performed installations to begin with.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Acura here, but .....................

Tinting is a modification if you bought it that way or not. It doesn't come that way from the factory. If you expect the dealer to fix it, you're the idiot.

These day's, 21 is 2.

stop bitching. the dealership is 100% right, since tints are illegal(in some states, and since most people go past the legal limit), the dealer has no obligation to "fix" the problem, reason being you broke the law, you modified your car. its like installing pre cat deletes and then your 3rd cat goes bad, its not acuras fault because it got burned out. just do what everyone else is saying, go back to the tint shop and they will check it out.

+1. You beat me to it.

OP - You modded your windows and now there is a problem? I wouldn't cover it either.

actually your the dumb one, we are just stating how modifying any part of your car voids the warranty of that part(tint=window motor)

I'm not gonna comment on this but ACURA states the following

Are service clients complaining of noisy and binding
windows after having them tinted by an aftermarket
shop? The reason could be door glass weatherstrip
damage by the window tinters.
To cut down on time, aftermarket window tinting
shops often leave on the door trim panels. But with
the trim panels in place, there’s just not enough room
to apply the window tint film far enough down the
glass to hide the end point of the film. To get around
this problem, the window tinters fold the door glass
weatherstrip wipers under so the wipers are pointing
straight down instead of straight up. This lets them
apply the window tint film where they want it, but it
permanently distorts the wipers, causing the
windows to make noise and bind when you raise and
lower them.

Window tint film also increases the thickness of the
glass and changes its smoothness, which further
contributes to this problem.
Any damage caused by aftermarket window tinting
isn’t American Honda’s responsibility, so it’s not a
warranty repair. Window tinting shops should consult
with their suppliers for available special tools and
application methods that can help them do the job
properly without risk of damage.

This is why they refused to work on your window....you prolly asperated the problem by being a smart ass with them.....

just swap switches with another window so you can rule out the switch and the motor.....
