When (mileage and or years) did everyone replace their timing belt?

Hi guys -

I have a 2007 Acura TL Type-S with 62,000 miles. I haven't replaced by timing belt yet as I was hoping to get an idea of when other members did. I know the dealerships say to replace at 7 years or 100,000 miles, but considering my low miles, I am hesitant to do it right now.

In fact, I called Acura and the rep I spoke to claimed that there is some type of sensor that will notify you when the timing belt needs to be replaced....why do I find this hard to believe?

Any help you guys can provide is much appreciated!!

Check the owners/Haynes manual, it contains all maintenance intervals. You don't need to do it until you reach the specified mileage unless you really beat on the car. Otherwise don't worry about it yet.

There is no 7 year recommendation- it's only to be done when the MID indicates '4', and that's typically ~ 105,000 miles. Drive on and don't worry about it.

like er doc48 said the MID will state a 4 , witch means the computer bases the miles driven and how it was driven hard , babied etc... and throw the light on for it then . i seen them come up at 100k b/f . but yes 7 years or 105k. if you not sure for piece of mind pull the front timing belt plastic cover and check it for wear. 61k on a 07' . personally i leave it alone.

I just got it done at 96,000 mile when a Honda dealer in my area had a sale. 4 never shows up in MID. You have a few years to wait for a sale. :0)

I did mine at 109K, kinda pushed it. Tranny went out at 108K. Luckily nothing else went wrong.

I have a 02 CL-S and did my belt at 10 years and 118K. I do not beat on my motor and most of my miles are easy cruising. My Acura dealer said I could go to 120K and that they have never seen a belt snap. For us older cars it is 7 years or 105K. There are a few dudes in here with over 140K on original belts but I would not recommend it.
