What is this part?

I've been hearing this "DOK!" sound sometimes when I maneuver out of a parking spot. The sound comes from the driver side wheel area.
I guess it's possible the axle is bad.

I looked down there last night and I saw something that almost seemed broken?

Can anyone ID this part and tell me if it's supposed to look like this?
Both ends just seem like they should be one piece?

I had a big clunk sound once, first time it happened was when I put it in six gear instead of reverse. were you in gear when it happened or in neutral?

Can you have a look behind your driver side wheel and let me know if it looks the same?

I reached and touched, seem like some flaking peeling on both ends, so it seems like they were once one piece.

I'm assuming the gear being broken like that, I wouldnt be able to shift?

MY car isnt operating correctly, I'm still concerned about the LSD.
is there a way to test it with out doing burnouts and putting more strain on the tranny?

or I think.
Now, Im just confused.

this test confirms that the LSD is working. or, thats how I understand

Now that I kinda know its not the LSD, I wonder why my car feels so different.
could the torn mount allow the tranny to shift its weight enough to where it throws balance off?
as in, when driving the car doesnt feel correct.
Sorry, that I cant put my feelings into words......

I have not seen your thread. Is name calling really necessary off the bat? People come here to discuss things and find solutions to their problems, not get insulted.

Thank you for linking me to your thread though, this helps me fix yet another issue in my 3G

I commented on a thread about wheel hop and my post was BEFORE you even posted your pic of your issue.

You introduced a topic into the thread after I commented in there and a people are expected to by physic to know every post after theirs that are off topic?

I don't need to call you names, you have already given yourself a one.

Bruce, if you knew Justin more you'd know he meant it affectionately. In addition, he WAS trying to be helpful. More than we can say for most that don't throw weird little pet names around...

Let us know how it goes man!

Believe the dealer, not your own eyes.

I've seen the patterns on this board over the years. Right now we're going through another wave of people that won't use the search function and want to be spoon fed. Even reading the links or looking at the pictures posted seems to be too much for many people lately. Time for me to take another break until this passes.

So, are we still doing the acurazine Vegas trip in a couple months?

Lol. I've learned when to disappear for my sake and so I don't stress the mods too much. I usually post out of boredom from work but when it starts to get stressful it defeats the purpose.

They want to sell him a clutch.

Matt...I'm definitely starting to understand that. I just try and take it all with a grain of salt.

Justin, you LITERALLY just shifted it too quick/hard and broke it?

^when i had my accident, i had trouble with my insurance company.
I then took it to a trusted shop, after the 1st shop was incompetent.

my friend told me that the 1st shop bragged to him about a torn mount. Im suspecting it was this one.

since my friend was only allowed to work on the back end, he and i couldnt do anything.

a torn or worn mount coupled with my abusive driving actually did tear it all the way.

Bruce's mount actually looks intact.
if you look at my pictures, the middle space is gone. the top part is supposed to be missing.
his mount looks intact.

What should an unbroken one look like?

i stand corrected, thanks justinspace. the lower trans mounts ive seen broken have the middle section (rubber) completely torn off. i thought your mount(op) was actually broken, my mistake. as it seems the front of the mount should have a gap.
