Something to do with the heating element, if I remember correctly. It comes up from time-to-time. It's defentily a defect. Don't recall if there is an easy fix or if a replacement is necessary.

As far as the mirrors going down in reverse, you have to have the select switch pointed to the side you want to tilt. Select lever to the "R" side and that side should tilt. If the select switch is in the center, neither side will tilt.

the heated mirrors do that if you leave them turned on for a long period of time.

only use that button when you want a quick defrost. don't forget to turn them off afterwards.

you'll need new glass. nothing you can do now unfortunately.

Yes, you can replace just the glass.

I think I paid like $90 for both sides.

My driver side was worst...

I'm sure someone will mention it sooner or later, but MultiVex mirrors...

^you seem to be having a lot of issues with your recent purchase. just wanted to say sorry and I hope you get everything sorted out.

get the mirror heating element checked out too...it may be defective. you don't want this to happen again in the future.

i've never even used the heated mirrors...such a weird standard option on a car if you ask me. just wipe the damn thing with your hand

Honestly, I'm not really having many issues at all. I'm just blowing everything out of proportion. I mean I can't expect a car with 130k miles not to have SOME issues. I expected it. Nothing major thus far. The axle seal will be covered by warranty or the dealership will compensate for me to have it repaired, already talked to the GM. Other than that, I really don't have any problems. Just a cruddy bumper that I am getting resprayed from all the highway miles.

This is happening on my 06, nice to know it's easily prevented. I assume I could replace with the mirrors from an 07? I'd love to have the turn signal on the mirror like the 07 & 08.

I have a question related to the mirrors.

Does everyone's mirrors make noise and kinda jerk into position when you adjust or back up? Both of mine do. So weird!

This is a problem with lube. There is a DIY to fix the issue.

yeah. having a shortage of lube is never a good thing for whatever situation you may find yourself in.

I've had this mirror browning problem on my 07 TLS at about 120,000kms (75k miles). The dealer can quickly replace the glass (.5 hr labor) Some won't cover it under warranty however. Mine cost 50$CDN per side.

IMHO it doesn't even matter if you leave them on all the time. It's when you leave them on with water or more specifically water with salt in it.

How many AZ/NV guys have this issue? I'd be interested to see.

That's the actuators inside the mirror assembly. Over the years, I've had to have both of mine replaced for those same symptoms.

Back in the early days of the 3G TL, dealers were swapping out entire mirror assemblies when these things happened before Acura realized it was only the actuators themselves going bad.

Yea and they aren't cheap are they? Like $60-70 a piece? Almost better off finding used 07+ mirror assemblies...

bingo. That's condensation and/or moisture trapped between the glass and expanding with heat either from the heating element or sunlight. When it expands it begins to separate the glass from the reflective material.

The mirrors on my 05 are doing this as well. I do use the heating element often in the winter. I just ordered new mirror glass today. Hopefully the new glass will last for a while.
