What is going on? Electrical problem?

I have 53k miles on my 04 tl. Now the lighted buttons in my car are not lighting up anymore. They are the sunroof button, driver and pass. heated seat button (the orange works though), the VCS, the trunk, the lower right button next to the gauge cluster and also the lower left one next to the gauge cluster. Why is this happening? Is it possible that this is just a small fuse I can replace rather than taking it back to the dealer?

UBNPAST,

there have been previous threads about this...do you have an extended warranty? Don't know exactly but it may cover light bulbs in those items. Now did all the bulbs go out at once or gradually they burned out? If the problem was an interior lighting fuse, then ALL the lighting would not work...not just the select few that you mentioned. It sounds to me that the bulbs are just burning out on you. Those bulbs are pretty expensive (dealer quoted me a little over $6 PER miniature bulb and these bulbs are not the kind you can just buy at the store...they have a twist style base and are made specifically for those buttons...Not to mention taking everything apart to access them. Find out if they might be covered under warranty if you've got the extended warranty...if not you may have to just take it to the dealer unless you can do the swap yourself which would just save you money on the labor.

I moved this thread to Problems and Fixes. Hopefully you will get some more additional help here.

Personally, I would check the fuses to see if everything looks okay, and then take it to the dealer for diagnostics.

Its does have the extended warranty, but its just very time consuming for them to fix it.
