Weird Whining Noise Skipping

So I hear this weird whining noise when the car is on and it sounds like it's skipping. However, when I apply the slightest bit of pressure to the clutch the noise disappears. Anyone else had this issue or are familiar with it?

I was thinking in the Spring of putting an aftermarket clutch in the damn thing anyway. Thanks all.

Not sure. It's there but like I said I just barely put any pressure on the clutch and it's gone. It's the weirdest thing ever.

And I just read the woes on after market clutch in these cars. Guess I will have to scratch that.

So when the noise goes away you're not actually disengaging the clutch, you're just barely touching the pedal, right?

It sounds like the throw out bearing. Sometimes they get kind of loud and applying pressure quiets it down. Many times the opposite it true too.

Throw out bearings are a part of a clutch kit and the trans has to come out to replace it. So you might as well do the entire clutch assembly while you're in there.

The noise is like a whistle that skips and it is there when the car is on. When the clutch is engaged with the slightest bit of pressure no noise. When I take my foot off the clutch bam its there again. Every time. And yeah I have given this some thought when the weather warms up.

I would say 95% chance it's the throwout bearing. Nothing else is affected by light pressure on the clutch that can make the noise you describe.

It looks pricey but there's a dual clutch coming out for the TL. I'm a big fan of these designs because you can double the holding power but not increase the pedal effort.

Think ima just go with the standard OEM replacement and that majik juice everyone here is so fond of.
