weird noise from engine..HELP

hi. i just wanted to clarify some things here before i go to the shop and get ripped off.
when i start my car in the morning or after the work (which means it being idle for quite a while), it makes loud noise from the engine with heavy vibration.. i almost feel like i'm sitting down in a massage chair.. but not just that, it gets worse when i put it in REVERSE with more vibration and louder noise from engine.. however, it goes away after I put the gear in D..

well.. i'm not sure if it's from engine, but i'm sure it's coming from the front..
I don't drive my car too harsh..

HELP!! i don't know too much about car...

thanks in advance

Are you having cold weather? The TL is an Ultra Low Emissions vehicle, so it will idle roughly for the first few seconds after a cold start if the ambient temperature is low.

Try letting the car idle for 30 seconds before shifting it into gear to see if that prevents the problem.

no.. i'm los angeles like u are.. as you know, it really never gets cold (at least not cold enough to affect the car).. and i have never experienced this with my ULEV accord coupe that i used to have.. and i tried putting my car idle for more than 30 seconds.. some at times, i let it idle for 5 minutes even..

it does not happen EVERYDAY, but it does happen very very often.. like 6 out of 7 days a week. sigh

If this isnt normal as described above conditions, you might want to have the motor mounts checked out!

Exactly what I was going to say. It gets worse in reverse and goes away in Drive. 99% sure it's a mount(s).

Replacement of the motor mounts should be free if you are under warranty (50K or 4 years)-- they aren't a wear item.
G/L!

Motor mounts shouldn't be failing.

I don't know if there was a TSB on this-- if there is, you may be covered. Check for a "motor mount" TSB in this forum and the main 3G forum.

Try Acura/dealer goodwill? Try that, esp. if you're inside the 4-year period since initial purchase/service date. Toyota replaced a cracked Camry steering pump for me as a warranty item some months after the warranty period as the mileage was below the warranty limit of 36K.
Acura and/or the dealer may be willing to pick up either parts or labor, if not the full amount.
