Weird "clunk" coming from the transmission

I recently noticed a weird "clunk" that I assume is coming from the transmission. It is very noticeable in the car, and does it VERY frequently. I narrowed it down to the throttle movement. If i tap the gas pedal and let go quickly, I hear the thump (usually from 2nd to 3rd gear). Now, if im on the the road driving normally and the car casually shifts from 2nd to 3rd it won't make a sound and it'll shift very well. It also makes this sound when i put it in Reverse, sounds TERRIBLE. I was pulling out of a parking spot earlier today, and as soon as I tapped the gas and let go I hear this sudden THUMP.

Transmission fluid was just changed less than 500 miles ago ( 3-step flush/refill)

What could it be? I also noticed when the car is in Drive, I get a lot of vibration @ idle that I can mainly feel through the steering wheel and brake pedal. Once I put the car in Nuetral, the vibration is almost non existent.

I'm hoping its just the engine mounts (or trans mounts?) and not something more serious...

sound like a motor mount issue. You motor mount could be bad and causing motor to rock back and forward.

Any updates on this? I'm having the exact same issue. You perfectly described the 2nd-3rd gear scenario.

I believe its your motor mount as well, as I have the same problem. Pop your hood, put the car in drive, hold the brake with one foot and gas it with the other, see if the engine is jumping, better to check with 2 people, you can try it in reverse also. On my car its the passenger mount and front mount.

Had the car checked out, not the motor mounts. I'm guessing something is up with the transmission...?

I don't know how they checked the mounts but visually you can't see a broken mount unless it's very bad.

You may have a hard part about to let go in the trans. I wish I had a diagram to see what parts are energized in the shift to 3rd and reverse. Still sounds like a mount with the idle vibrations which a trans can not cause.

Try shifting into drive and noting the vibrations. Then shift into reverse and note the vibrations. If the vibration goes away in reverse, it's the mounts. Actually, this doesn't matter. The fact that it goes away in neutral tells me it is the mounts for sure.

It doesn't completely go away in neutral but it does subside considerably...which is why I originally thought it would be the motor mounts. I'll have another shop take a look at it...

I think I may have the same issue, My car does vibrate a little and it noticeably goes down when in neutral, When shifting from park to reverse there is a slight delay, than a thud.. Also at high speeds 65+ the car does shake, although this could be my tires as sometimes I can find a "sweet spot" where it does not vibrate, and the steering wheel shakes so maybe that would be tires.

Anyways, were you able to solve the issue fivelitercheater?
Which mount would be suspect? Or should I just get all 3 replaced?
