Unhappy VTEC Problem

Hey guys recently i have noticed a major torque decrease in my TL and couldnt figure out what the problem was. Yesterday I took it to a show and got a pressure test for my Cats and fuel something like that to make sure everything was ok and it seemed fine. The mechanic said that it was probably a bad batch of gas so i got this enzyme to put in the gas to treat it and i put it in and so far hasnt done anything. I was researching and it says some peoples vtec doesnt engage and the guy said that at higher rpms it doesnt speed up quick enough and vtec engages at higher rpms and i think thats my problem.

Any suggestions?

umm yeah, your blown engine.
Have you fixed it yet?

or swapped in a new one?
you're leaving out details, and its not fair to us.

HUH? What?

So your vtec doesn't engage until higher up in the RPMs than it should, or are you saying IT DOESNT ENGAGE VTEC AT ALL ?

What type of fuel grade have you been pumping since you owned the car?

Is this at all times, or during at high rpms?

when the vtec crossover happens, it will get louder. You'll be able to hear it more if you have a CAI.

Why don't you try putting the car in sports shift in 1st gear and drive it up to the rpms where vtec usually occurs and see if you can notice it or not.

Assuming you do know what you're looking for

I have a 6 spd MT and also it does get louder but literally it speeds up so slow like for instance tonight on the highway a g35 was behind me and i took of well usually i should smoke that thing well not the case i dropped to third and the pick up was so bad and then went to fourth and i was going 110 and to get to 120 took soooooo lonnggggg and usually its so fast. I have hit 150 in my Tl and it never was that slow and when i hit 120 it like was slowly increasing speed like so slow its like the engine was putting out normally but the car wasnt going faster and i know the aerodynamic thing with equalizing but i hit 150!!! no way should that happen at 120 I just dont understand

You've been putting additives and stuff in the gas tank haven't you, when I was younger I would put all sorts of stuff in my 98 accord, things like race gas and injector cleaners, ended up getting rid of it because it started to run real bad. You should get that car checked.

check oil level... vtec is oil pressure actuated ... low oil can and will prevent vtec change over

So you're saying your VTEC went night night?

here's a thought, save yourself the trouble and sell it, then buy another one.

lol no offense to the OP or anything, but no one will pay good money for a car that has had oil consumption problems, or had its engine replaced by a 17 year old, and is still having "problems".

finish what you started OP. check all of your connections? any codes? Oil level? Still a lot of unanswered questions.

Im sure another 17 year old would buy it, this kid bought a civic here for almost $5000 just because it was modified , he didnt understand what salvaged meant, but he still bought it, and im sure someone would buy this too.

This so ridiculous!! You want to know why your vetch isn't working... Cuz ur 17 and ur driving your TL 150mph.. It's a nice car man, it's not a sports car!!! U probably redline every gear don't you? Be honest...u have noticed this problem yet you are STILL pushing your car WOT at 100mph+, not smart

If I noticed my car was acting funny I wouldn't go out and race g35s at 120mph...hahahah. O god.. Did u ever think you might be causing more problems??

Check oil
