VSA & ! light

So I was sitting in the drive through line at CVS dropping off a prescription, when all of a sudden my VSA & ! light came on.I had just gotten off of the highway from my 50 mile commute. When I pressed the VSA switch, nothing happened. I couldn't turn VSA back on.The car drove fine going home, but the lights stayed on. I just started it again to see if they would come on again. Both lights did not come back on, but when I pressed the VSA button, the ! came on, but not the VSA light. When I pressed the VSA button again, the ! light went back off. All of my brake lights are working. I did check that. Each time I pressed my brake light, I could hear a click that seemed to be coming from directly under the shifter (I have an Automatic).

Has anyone else experienced this? I searched an read other posts, but I did not find another post that had all of my symptoms. The engine light never came on.

Thanks for any help!

hey, i have a similarr isssue as you.
my lights only come on once the brake is engaged up to a certain point. light braking is fine.
my friend who workss at mitsu asked his service advisor for me and he said if our cars had soome sort of wheel sensor then the connection might need to be replaced or tightened.
i havent checked it on my TL yet but i hope that helps.
keep us updated!

Could be the cold messing with the sensors.

On the 2G RLs Its ice interfering with the sensors. I've read where you turn the car off, restart and drive it at more than 20mph, everything goes back to normal. If the warnings remain despite one or 2 "restarts", take it to a pressure wash and give the brakes a good wash, if that doesn't do the trick, its dealer time.

I had a wheel sensor that the wire was ripped out of somehow after some canyon carving and thats what lights came on, so it could be a wheel sensor?

As Heavy RL mentioned, probably just a hiccup. If you it went into limp mode it would more than likely be your APP sensor. For now, don't worry about it.

thanks for the input. It never went into limp mode, so I guess I will just keep an eye on it. I would take it in for a wash and hose off the sensors, but I am getting 15" of snow tonight...The light didn't come on today(and I drive 110 miles to work round trip)

If it was a wheel sensor, would my check engine light come on with the VSA and ! light?

I had the same issue just a few days ago. I bled my brakes, redid my brake pads and added some antisqueal to it, tightened the brake hose to the caliper and added in new brake fluid and the vsa light, ! and brake light went away.

So, VSA worked this morning trying to navigate through the snow. Maybe it was just a sensor being dirty?

I wanna say it would throw a TPMS system error.

As far as your VSA, try disconnecting and reconnecting your battery.

1. He has a 2005. No TPMS. (tpms system error?)

2. No. These type of hiccups are not unusual. It doesn't require disconnecting the battery.

My check engine light did not come on when the wheel sensor failed
