Vibration & Bracket Adjustment

I was reading through the 13 or so page thread on the driveline vibration issue that has been around since '04. The thread goes through alot of different things but about half way through a few people mention that they either loosened or completely removed a bracket underneath the car that holds exhaust components in place. Basically this attributes the problem to exhaust resonance.

My question is, how many people have tried this fix either through the dealer or themselves, and how many of them still have no vibration?

I'm trying to find a fix for my problem and am considering adjusting or removing this bracket myself, however I want to be sure that people are not having the same problems down the road.

For reference here is the thread, and this discussion starts on page 8 and continues until page 10.

Thanks All!

If it is the 1500 RPM Vibration, there is a service bulletin

Is your problem the vibration at 50 MPH when the engine is at roughly 1500 RPMs? If so, there is a service bulletin to install "a dynamic damper". I had mine done a couple months ago and it pretty much solved the issue (almost all vibration gone).

Will the dynamic damper get rid of the vibration in 1500 rpms not only in 50mph range? The vibration i have that is really noticeble is when accelerating slowly from a stop in the low 1000-1500 rpm so will the dynamic damper get rid of that?

The dealer fixed the problem (they adjusted the bracket). No vibration so far. My car is perrfect at 50-60 or 1500RPM.

I tried removing the bracket myself but it didnt make a difference.

As for the TSB, I'm in Canada and so far my service manager has said he has no record of that TSB so I'm not sure if I can get it applied.

Has anybody in Canada had it done?

Thanks!

I am in US damned Philly, asked around and 4 dealers refuse to apply TSB on my car because it is 05 while the TSB is issued for 04.

Tried the bracket myself, didn't work.

Let us all 05 users to file apetition so that Acura do sth about the problem.

To all 05 and 06 TLs with vibrations, are you sure it's the same 1,500 rpm 5th gear vibration that was in the 04s. At first I thought that was the case with my 06, because it's there between 50 and 60 but it does it in any gear including coasting in neutral, so there may be another vibration thats in the 05 and 06s.

It is in every gear 1500 rpm regardless speed. I found there is another resonance peak at 2100 rpm, but not as pronounced as the 1500rpm one.

I called acura customer service yesterday about this issue, and the lady yelled at me on the phone: " If there is no service bullitin issued for 05, that means the problem has been fixed, if you have this problem, that is Y.O.U.R P.R.O.B.L.E.M!"

Well, I will never buy this brand again. Lets keep our eyes on how many guys here who now love TL to death will say this in 3 years.

I took my car in for service and complained about the vibration and the service manager agreed to go on a test drive. When we got on the test drive he told me that every TL does this and infact most MDXs do this as well. We test drove my car then took out an '06 and I have to admit I could feel it in the '06 as well. He said that he could produce it on just about any TL and he knew exactly where to hold the car to get the vibration.

Its strange because alot of people on here state that they have no vibration at all which completely contradicts what he was saying. In addition, he had never heard of the TSB that was released for the 04s.
