I have a 2006 TL ,46,000 miles , every so often I get the ABS brakes modulating on the pedal under light braking pressure( just like heavy braking on a snow road ). The yellow light flashes. The sound comes from the right front driver side. It does not happen all the time, maybe 1-2 per day .When I take it to Acura they can not duplicate it and the all the codes indicate , wheel senors, abs , etc etc. When they re set it and it does it again it does not leave a code?. They talk to the Acura hot line and they think it is the VAS modulator at $789 plus labor, but they are not sure.
Any thoughts as I do not think a VAS should go out at this mileage

Unfortunately you will find that Acura has some of the worst "techs" in the world. No troubleshooting skills whatsoever.

Is there a specific condition that sets the ABS off, is it repeatable or just random?

Many times a bad wheel sensor will trigger the ABS at about the same speed every time but not always.

You said you get the yellow light on the dash when it does this, are you talking about the same light that comes on when you disable the traction control? This light should not come on during normal ABS operation. It does come on when the ECU thinks the car is spinning the tires.

What you can do for now is turn the traction control off with the switch and see if the problem goes away. If it goes away, it's in the traction control system. This does not rule out a wheel speed sensor but it does rule out several other things.
