Anyone replaced vanity light bulb before? Tried to pry the lens out with a butter knife but won't bulge, any special tricks, ways, angles, side to pry? Thanks.

 

Few options if you are talking about the "map lights" that click on when you press on them. The bulbs are EXTREMELY difficult to take out, but you'll get them out.

1. Use tape, and put tape around the bulb. This gets you better grip.
2. Use a rubber band to get a better grip.
3. Use your fingers and grab / pull (obvious choice, but hardest)

You actually have to get at it from one side... I would recommend you remove the light from the trunk... and look at how it's held there... then you get the idea on how it's held in the vanity mirror... 'cause they are the same cover... basically you have to push a tab in on one side of the cover and it come down... then when replacing you have to pull it back so it can have some tension when you clip it back... good luck

you'll have to slide a small screwdriver wraped with tape..between the metal mounting ring and headliner... and push the cover locking tab... the tab is usually on the window side of the cover...

 

Thanks Rod. I just wonder why they would do something ridiculously hard like that. What ever happened to those days of just popping the cover off. Oh well, thanks. I'll give it try later today. I replaced all dome light and license plate light with superwhite LEDs looks very good, this vanity mirror light is the only one that's giving me a hard time.

 

I tried the trunk light cover and came out no problem but when attempting the vanity light, no success, i guess I'm too careful, NM, I'll just leave it alone. I'll use the LED light in my odyssey license plate. Thanks for the inputs again.
