turn trunk light off

Is there a way to turn the trunk light off while the trunk is open? I spilled gas in my trunk the other day and i need to let it air out. But the trunk light stays on...

You can pull the bulb, or take out the lighting fuse, or disconnect your battery. I'd pull the fuse. If you disconnect the battery you'll have to reset your radio and Navi.

I'd take out the bulb. It's pretty simple to remove.

I let it air out last night, i do not smell any fumes. I also took a wet towel and tried to soak up as much as possible last night.

bulb/fuse...and then get a trunk tray, had a liter of rootbeer leak in the trunk after a party the other night...just pulled out the tray, hosed it off, let it dry in the sun and put it back...all while remarking how beautifully clean my trunk carpeting was

Acura has never provided a way to turn off the trunk light. I always pulled the fuse for the trunk light in my old 1986 Legend whenever I was tailgating before a game or a concert. Worked fine, and as others note it protects your security codes (not an issue in the '86 Legend!). Just make sure you put the fuse in a safe place, as those things can be easy to misplace. I always used to put mine in the shift boot under the theory that since the car was parked that was a good safe place, and also if I forgot that the fuse was pulled I'd see it there after the concert or game.

I concur with the other folks on the trunk tray. I got one when I bought my TL and have always been thankful for it, although I do have to admit there may be something to the argument some folks make that says "why are you keeping your car pristine for the next owner, given that you will never see the trunk's carpeting?"
