Trunk lid

The trunk lid on my 2006 TL will not stay open. Can anyone offer any ideas on what may be the problem?

Bad tension spring? Have you added anything to the trunk lid recently (spoiler, HID reverse lights, etc)?

I havent added anything to the trunk lid. The lid does not lift up on its own and does not stay up once I lift it up. Any idea on the cost of fixing or what would be needed to fix it. Not much of a do it yourself guy. Thanks for the reply.

I know that increased tension springs are part of the kit Acura ships with the wing type OEM and Type-S spoilers. I suppose yours may either be broken or not attached correctly. In the 3G Garage, on the first page look for a link to "Instruction Manuals" and find the instructions for the Wing Spoiler install. Those should show the correct placement of the trunk spring so you can check yours. Be careful---the spring can develop quite a bit of tension.
If you are under warranty, take it to the dealer for adjustment/replacement. If out of warranty, I would think any local body shop could check it for you.
