Transmission Slipping :(

O8’ Type S 5AT with 132k miles. Recently started randomly slipping when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. This has happened about 5-7 times over the past 3 days. Also, one time at a stop sign I pressed the gas but the car was out of gear and wouldn’t move, stopped went to neutral and back to drive, and the car drove like normal. Haven’t drove the car since to avoid possibly damaging the transmission even more. I have the 3rd and 4th gear pressure switches in hand and am going to switch them out this weekend and will also change the fluid out which has been at normal levels. Any ideas of what could be causing this or ways to fix it? Am I cooked? Thanks

Why don’t you do the maintenance and then report back rather than worry

I’m only planning on switching out the pressure switches because a friend of mine gave them to a while ago after selling his TL and figured I might as well. I’m not sure if this will help and am just looking for other options that could solve the issue before deciding I need a new trans.

Have you done any other maintenance? Like chance the fluid? What condition was it in? Have you checked the fluid level? I mean...it's a transmission. About all you can do with it in the car is swap the fluid and the solenoids....anything else generally requires you to pull the transmission and crack the case.

The only thing that comes to mind is the transmission range switch, but that usually has additional symptoms.

You're not sure if preventative maintenance will help your car

If only there were some source of truth of hundreds of other owners who have done the proper maintenance and had the car last longer ..

Forgot to update

Had an issue with one of the hose clamps breaking and causing fluid to slightly leak. Dipstick would come out normal but after letting the car sit for a few days is when we saw a puddle start to form.
